The Spandau Ballet star was voted off I’m A Celebrity as the sixth celebrity to leave the jungle, and has now reunited with his full family with a cheeky social media post
Martin Kemp has quipped that he’s ‘reunited with his girlfriend’ following his ‘snub’ during his stint in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here jungle.
The Spandau Ballet legend was amongst the dozen famous faces who entered the ITV reality series this year, with presenting duo Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly once again helming the beloved show, now celebrating its 25th series.
Following nearly three weeks in the Australian wilderness, Martin became the sixth celebrity contestant to receive his marching orders, reflecting on his jungle experience: “It’s just a weird trip. I loved just sitting around and talking with the others.
“I said it a few times on there, I’m not one for making new friends and this is the first time I’ve done it in years and I absolutely loved it.
“Coming out now, I feel like I’ve done everything I wanted to do, experienced it and I can walk out with some brilliant anecdotes. I wasn’t one of those guys who were dancing and singing and stuff; I just brought a calm energy.”
Since touching down back home from Australia this week, Martin has been scrolling through social media, catching up on his family’s posts during his absence, including a clip from daughter Harleymoon who pointed out that her dad had failed to feature his ‘girlfriend’ in his pre-departure family snaps, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The amusing footage concluded with the family pooch snuggling up to a photograph of the star. Sharing the post, Martin confessed: “My fav vid whilst I was in the Jungle @harleymoonkemp made! ! Awe I’m now back with my girlfriend! ! !” This follows the touching moment when Martin’s wife, Shirlie, greeted him on the bridge in I’m A Celebrity…Coming Out.
The follow-up show to the main series is set to return to ITV1, ITVX and STV this Saturday (December 13), offering an exclusive peek behind the scenes at what transpired when the celebrities exited the jungle and returned to VIP luxury.
Upon reuniting with Shirlie, an emotional Martin confessed: “I’ve seen this show for 25 years. So it’s so great to actually be here. I feel so nervous it’s bizarre. I wasn’t this nervous on my wedding day.”
The singer and actor embraced his wife as he shed tears.
“Are you done?” she queried before he nodded ‘yes’. An overwhelmed Martin then admitted: “I’m a bit overwhelmed. All this meeting. Meeting Shirlee. It’s bizarre just smelling Shirlee!” To which Shirlee responded, waving her hand in front of her nose: “And smelling him!”.
