Love Island host Maya Jama has spoken out to explain that some important scenes on the ITV2 reality dating series are cut after giving her “two pence” on the matter
Love Island host Maya Jama has exposed ITV.
The TV host revealed that ITV occasionally edits out some of her reactions to the Islanders’ behaviour. The 30-year-old presenter recently called out Islander Ben after he made a rude comment about co-star Toni.
Maya quickly clapped back at the contestant and said: “Yeah, I didn’t really mean like that, Ben. That was unnecessary”.
Love Island spin-off panellist Sam Thompson later commended Maya for her response, saying: “You smashed it with Ben by the way, yeah, you nailed that.”
Maya replied: “Thank you but you do have to remember we film for a long time. I do always speak, it just doesn’t always get involved. There, you got my two pence,” reports the Mirror.
The incident occurred when Harrison recoupled with Casa Amor’s Lauren, despite previously being with Toni. Maya asked Toni for her thoughts and she replied: “Tommy obviously surprised me, the rest of them not so much.”
Ben then said: “I’ve got to give it to Harrison. What Lauren’s been able to give him in three days you haven’t been able to do in two, three weeks.”
Toni responded with: “Save it, b****”, and Maya quipped back branding his comment “unnecessary”.
The sassy exchange sparked support on social media as one fan wrote: “Maya is brilliant. Best TV host award,” while another chimed in: “Love that Maya put Ben in his place.”
Others joined in, saying: “You tell him Maya” and: “Maya getting involved, chefs kiss.”
This wasn’t the first time Maya shared her “two pence” during the same episode. Harry and Helena were reunited after Harry returned from Casa single, much to everyone’s surprise, despite exploring a connection with bombshell Rheo.
Maya had some choice words as Rheo revealed that she and Harry had shared “kisses in bed, cuddles and all sorts” during their time together. Andrada then claimed that Harry admitted he ‘didn’t miss’ Helena during Casa, prompting an awkward response from the couple who burst into laughter.
However, Maya remained stoney-faced and said: “I don’t know, I probably wouldn’t find it that funny if I was in a couple with someone like that.”
