Sara Burack, who appeared on the Netflix real estate reality series Million Dollar Beach House, was killed in a hit-and-run crash in the early hours of Thursday
A woman faces charges over a deadly hit-and-run that killed a star of Netflix’s Million Dollar Beach House, say police.
Sara Burack was struck by a car around 3am on Thursday near Villa Paul Restaurant on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays, New York. The 40-year-old Netflix actress was discovered by officers “unconscious and with serious injuries”, as stated by the Southampton Town Police Department.
Shortly after being taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, Sara passed away. The driver involved did a runner from the scene, sparking an intense manhunt by local and state law enforcement.
After an investigation by authorities, Virginia native Amanda Kempton, aged 32, was arrested and charged. Kempton is accused of fleeing the scene from a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, a class D felony carrying a sentence of up to four years in jail.
So far, the police have kept quiet on how they managed to identify Kempton as the suspect. However, they are still asking anybody with information to get in contact with Southampton Town Police as they continue investigations.
Burack had previously been associated with Nest Seekers International, a high-end property firm operating in both Manhattan and the Hamptons. She was then featured in the Netflix show Million Dollar Beach House, which followed a team of ambitious young brokers fighting for multimillion-pound listings in the competitive Hamptons market.
Despite parting ways with Nest Seekers over a year back, Burack maintained ties with her ex-colleagues. Geoff Gifkins, regional manager for the Hamptons at the firm, shared online: “Our thoughts and prayers are with family and friends.”
He added: “Please be kind and respectful as this is a tremendous loss to her parents and close friends.”
Estate agent heavyweight Paulette Corsair, close with the Burack clan for a number of years, reminisced about Sara’s warmth and dedication to her neck of the woods.
Speaking to Newsday, Corsair said: “She was an amazing person who really cared for people,” and pointed out her friend’s hardworking nature by adding: “She was a hardworking real estate agent who was there for others. She was loved greatly by her friends and a close family.”
Before moving property dealing, Burack used to work for her family’s heavy-duty construction and materials business.
