Oasis tour made their triumphant return on Friday night, rocking the Principality Stadium in Cardiff – but one body language expert says the lads still have their trademark charm
An expert has said both Liam and Noel Gallagher still have their “trademark swagger”.
Oasis made their huge return to the music scene on Friday night (July 4) as the Mancunian brothers took to the stage in the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Thousands of fans flocked to the venue to listen to some of the band’s biggest hits in their first public performance since 2009.
Now, as the tour is officially underway, one body language expert has been keeping an eye on how Liam and Noel are interacting with each other. He explained that while neither of them are trying to be ‘holier than thou’, the duo have not lost that spark they had 30 years ago.
Speaking to Slingo, body language expert Darren Stanton said that right from the get go, the band still had their unique charm. Many were keen to see whether the brothers would kick off at each other during the gig, but Darren said there was no way that would be happening.
“From the moment they walked on stage holding hands and playing the first chords of their much-loved hit ‘Hello’, fans were certainly in for a treat,” Darren explained. “They’re interlocking their fingers and mirroring each other’s posture.
“They’re completely symmetrical, which means no one person is seeking to seem the most powerful,” Darren added, “there are no power gestures here. Despite their egos and fallouts from the past, both brothers are equal here. Neither is looking to be the bigger man, which is very important.”
The body language guru went on to say that the band’s behaviour was “iconic”, as many people never thought this moment of unity between the usually warring brothers would happen. He examined that both had seemed to be in “good spirits”, and had a real “rapport” with each other.
“It’s clear from the reaction of the crowd that they’re just as popular – if not more so – than they were in the first place,” Darren insisted. “They’ve reverted back to their normal performer mode very quickly; it’s like riding a bike, as they say.”
He added that both Noel and Liam had managed to slip into their usual performing styles with no difficulty whatsoever. With Liam going back to his legendary position of bending over the microphone, it was clear that the duo’s ability had never left.
Liam and Noel are set to play another stint of dates in the Principality Stadium over the next few days. Tens of thousands of eager fans trekking their way down to the Welsh capital to make sure they grab their spot to see the huge band make their return to the stage.
But despite the band’s hardcore aesthetic, Friday night’s show highlighted their soft spots for football. During the show, a photo of the late Liverpool star Diogo Jota appeared on the LED screen behind them, in a touching gesture to the Portuguese footballer after he passed away earlier this week.
