P Diddy’s ex Cassie Ventura breaks silence as lawyer says she ‘paved the way’

P Diddy has been found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution and could face up to 10 years in prison – his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura’s lawyer has addressed the verdict

Cassie testified in court for four days

P Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura helped “pave the way” for his court jury’s verdict.

Her lawyer Doug Wigdor issued a statement following the news that P Diddy, real name Sean Combs, was found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution following an eight-week trial.

The rapper was cleared of two counts of sex trafficking and one count racketeering conspiracy in a mixed verdict. Combs now faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

In his statement, Wigdor announced: “This entire criminal process started when our client Cassie Ventura had the courage to file her civil complaint in November 2023.”

“Although the jury did not find Combs guilty of sex trafficking Cassie beyond a reasonable doubt, she paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution.”

He continued: “By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice.”

Ventura’s lawyer said that she showed “exemplary courage throughout this trial” and helped to “bring attention to the realities of powerful men in our orbit and the misconduct that has persisted for decades without repercussion.”

“This case proved that change is long overdue and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors,” said Wigdor.

Cassie recently gave birth to her third child with partner Alex Fine

A 12-person jury in a Manhattan federal courtroom found the 55-year-old billionaire guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution on 2 July 2025.

The jury considered charges made against Diddy that claimed he had trafficked his victims for sex, ran a racketeering conspiracy and transported victims across state lines to engage in prostitution.

Diddy’s trial went on for eight weeks and a number of witnesses were called to court to present accounts of how he allegedly used violence, fear and drugs against women.

The rapper was arrested on 16 September 2024 in New York, later held at the Metropolitan Detention Centre until his trial began on 5 May 2025.
