Love Island star Maura Higgins and Danny Jones are yet to comment publicly on their alleged kiss at an eventful BRITs afterparty, and there’s a apparently a reason why
Maura Higgins hasn’t commented on her alleged kiss with Danny Jones for one reason, it’s claimed.
The Love Island star, 34, appeared to lock lips with married McFly star Danny Jones, 38, at Universal’s BRITs afterparty last weekend. Footage from The Sun seemed to show the pair sharing a quick smooch by a curtain at the bash at 180 Studios on the Strand in London.
A source claimed: “Danny and Maura seemed to be having a great time. They looked like they had a brief drunken kiss. Danny and Maura seem to have a close friendship after meeting in the jungle. They were talking and laughing for ages.”
According to sources close to Maura, she won’t apologise or speak about the situation until Danny does. An insider told The Sun she believes “she cannot speak out until Danny breaks his silence”.
Danny is reportedly having “crisis talks” with wife Georgia, a former Miss England and podcaster, in a bid to rescue their marriage – it’s believed she feels let down by him. Danny wed Georgia in 2014 and the pair share seven-year-old son Cooper.
Insiders also claimed being a mum has always been Maura’s dream and that she isn’t ruling out dating another celebrity. They told The Sun: “Maura has always wanted to have a family, that’s been a huge goal from day dot.
“Dating famous men does not intimidate her, in fact she believes it’s probably easier as they can understand her life better. But that doesn’t mean when she does finally settle down, it will be with a fellow celebrity.”
Maura has jetted off to Los Angeles to do a photoshoot in the wake of the kissing scandal. Her friends have now claimed she’s “in a bad way” and “really struggling” with the backlash from the alleged drunken kiss.
A friend told the Mirror: “Maura is a tough character but the reaction to events of the last week has been utterly relentless, and it’s fair to say it’s taken its toll. She has found all of this very difficult to navigate. She appreciates she’s in the public eye and there is extra interest around her, but the abuse is off the charts, and people need to calm down.”
The friend said the last week has been “horrendous” for Maura as she has been the subject of “horrific” trolling on social media because of it. They added: “She is trying to treat things as business as usual, but it’s hard.”
It comes after a second video emerged which appeared to show the pair at another afterparty at the Nobu Hotel in Marylebone. An onlooker said: “Danny and Maura seemed to be enjoying their night of partying. They were knocking back wine at the Nobu from 4am and seemed keen to carry on. They weren’t seen leaving before 6am.”
Georgia has just missed an appearance on her Mum’s The Word! podcast that she hosts with her friend Kelsey Parker. The instalment became available online today (March 10) and features Love Island star Olivia Bowen. She opened up to Kelsey about pregnancy and pregnancy loss, but Georgia was nowhere to be seen.
Nor was she mentioned in the description of the episode, a description of which read: “In this deeply personal episode of Mum’s The Word, Kelsey Parker is joined by the courageous Olivia Bowen in her first podcast interview since revealing the heartbreaking loss of one of her twins mid-pregnancy.” It comes after Georgia reportedly missed a Q&A with Kelsey at The Baby Show in London.
Danny and Maura met on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity last year. Danny ended up winning the show.
