Severance’s second instalment certainly did not disappoint after a long three-year wait and fans of the show are eager for information about the series’ confirmed third season
After that crazy season finale, here’s everything we know about Severance season three.
Fans of the Apple TV+ show were on the edge of their seats as they watched innie Mark save his wife Gemma, only for him to turn around and grab Helly’s hand as they ran back into the Severance floor.
Hopefully viewers won’t have to wait too long for the third instalment as the show has been officially renewed for a third season. Apple CEO Tim Cook made the announcement on his X/Twitter account, much to the joy of the show’s loyal fans.
Cook cryptically wrote: “Season 3 of Severance is available upon request. – Tim C.” Excited fans were overjoyed at the news and replied to his message with a number of theories on how the story should end.
“YESSSSSSS And it better end with Mark and Gemma,” demanded one streamer, while another said: “We all request a Season 3 binge-watching waffle party promptly.”
“Thank you Tim Cook, for renewing ‘Severance’ for a third season. Seasons 1 and 2 have been just absolutely awesome,” praised another Severance fan.
It is safe to assume that the three major characters from the past two seasons – Mark, Helly and Gemma – will be returning, as their love triangle is the main premise of the show’s plot.
Other beloved characters such as Dylan, Devon, Ricken and Milchick will also hopefully return, while Irving has been missing for a large chunk of the second season. However, his storyline implies that this isn’t the last we’ll see of him.
During season two we were introduced to Cobel’s tragic past and her newfound vendetta for Lumon, which could solidify her spot in the upcoming season, while Helly’s father Jame plays a small but very significant part meaning he will most likely star in the third series.
However, it is important to note that nothing has been confirmed as of yet. As for the show’s release date?
Well, back over on X/Twitter executive producer Ben Stiller reassured fans that the process “definitely ” won’t take another three years until its release date.
Season two’s finale episode saw Mark’s Innie and Outie battle it out as they fought over whether to save Gemma, thus killing his Innie, or to stay and fight Lumon from the inside, potentially killing Gemma in the process.
Fans are assuming that season three will pick up from where we left off, although some are doubtful that all of out questions will be answered right away.
In true Lumon style, Severance could tease eager viewers by introducing new characters, locations, cast members and plot to keep things exciting. You never know what you’re going to get with this show.
