Sir Rod Stewart has had to pull the plug on several US gigs as he battles the flu, ahead of his much-anticipated performance at Glastonbury later this month. It comes after he had to cancel another concert earlier in the week. The rock legend is set to take the stage for the prestigious tea-time legends slot at the Somerset festival on Sunday June 29.

Taking to Instagram, Sir Rod expressed he was “devastated” to have to cancel or push back the six US concerts scheduled within the next eight days.

“I have to cancel and reschedule my next six concerts in June as I continue to recover from the flu,” he shared with his followers. “So sorry my friends.

“I’m devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I’ll be back on stage and will see you soon.”

He signed off the post as “Sir Rod” and included the heartbreak emoji.

Additionally, he detailed the four gigs he’s axing – in Las Vegas and Stateline, Nevada – and the two he intends to rearrange – in California.

The 80-year-old rocker recently revealed that he will join forces with ex-Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood for his eagerly awaited Glastonbury gig.

On That Peter Crouch Podcast, he mentioned that he’s only slated for an hour and a quarter on the Pyramid Stage.

“But I’ve asked them ‘Please, another 15 minutes’ because I play for over two hours every night and it’s nothing,” he explained.

Looking ahead to 2024, he vowed not to hang up his mic but did confirm that his 2025 European and North American concerts would mark the end of his “large-scale world tours”, hinting at more personal performances in smaller venues thereafter.

Sir Rod’s most recognised solo tracks include Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?, Every Beat Of My Heart, and Maggie May.

Just last month, he was honoured with a prestigious lifetime achievement award at the American Music Awards (AMAs), presented by five of his children.
