Summer House star Carl Radke has admitted he knew he “needed to get his act together” after watching himself back.

The reality star, 40, has been dealing with a lot over the past few seasons of the Bravo show, which streams on Hayu in the UK. He shared his grief after the death of his brother, was honest about drug and alcohol issues, and is now dealing with the fall-out of the breakdown of his relationship with co-star Lindsay Hubbard, 38 – all while dealing with the general chaos of Summer House.

Despite it all, Carl has come out of the other side and has been back to having fun with his co-stars – including Brooklyn Beckham’s ex, Lexi Wood.

The businessman has been part of the show since it started in 2017. Back then there was less focus on the cast’s real lives, whereas now the show follows them away from their shared Hamptons summer house too.

Carl told Daily Star: “It’s funny. I don’t think I realised until a couple seasons in being really honest and authentic was just really important.

“When I first started doing this, I wanted the audience to know certain things about me – I’m this successful guy, I’ve got it all together, I have all these things happening for me.

“But it was more about the things behind-the-scenes that I wasn’t talking about that I really needed to be honest about. I’m proud of the fact that I was able to just get the courage and strength to ask for help and find support.”

He went on: “Once I found support, I was really confident just going, ‘You know what? I’m an alcoholic. I’m a cocaine addict. Own it, embrace it.’

“I’ve been very fortunate that I’ve been given the opportunity to keep telling this story. I find myself sometimes, like I feel like I’m nobody special. I have been through a lot.

“Someone told me they’re like, ‘Carl, maybe if there’s one person who listens or hears some of what you’ve shared, they pick up the phone, ask for help or find support.’

“That is why you do what you’re doing.”

Carl went on: “I try not to hold myself too high. Certainly a lot of other people have had difficult things in their life.

“I’ve been very privileged and very lucky. So I weigh all that with where I am now, but I had to put in the work.

“I had to really turn a lot over and admit that I had a problem. When doing that, there’s a lot of strength.

“I kind of found my community on the other side, a lot of support.

“It’s funny now in Bravo and the whole Summer House world, the amount of people that have reached out to me and have expressed, ‘Hey, keep going,’ or ‘You’ve helped me,’ or asking questions.

“I mean, watching myself seasons one through four, like anybody would be like, ‘That guy needs to get his act together.’ Like, holy cow.”

Stream Season 9 of Summer House on Hayu, the same day as the USA.
