Hollywood star Timothee Chalamet refused to rule out whether he was the ‘Scouse’ rapper, only adding to speculation that he could in fact have a secret rap project
Timothee Chalamet has teased that rumours he could be renowned UK rapper EsDeeKid are true. The Hollywood star refused to rule out the possibility, as the rapper continues to shoot to fame.
The musician, who is alleged to be from Liverpool, keeps his identity secret by covering most of his face in public appearances and music videos. Internet sleuths are convinced the Wonka actor, 29, is living a secret life as the rapper because they believe the pair have the same nose and eyes.
During an appearance on Heart FM, when the Hollywood A-lister was asked if the rumours are true, Timothée replied: “I’ve got no comment on that.” He added: “I got two words on that… all will be revealed in due time.”
Social media users reckon the fact that Timothée is a hip-hop fan who used to rap under the moniker Lil Timmy Tim when he was a school is also evidence he is the rapper. Timothée created a viral rap about statistics for a class project when he was studying at LaGuardia High School and a video of one of his performances in 2012 has been shared online.
Rumours Timothée is the rapper have also been fueled by him being spotted at one of rapper Fakemink’s gigs in August after he collaborated with the 20-year-old musician. Commenting on his appearance at the show, one TikTok user asked: “Why would he take time out of his day to go to that?”
Another user of the social media platform said: “There is a photo of Timothee with a mask on and he looks exactly like him just saying.” EsDeeKid dropped his debut album, Rebel, in June and has only disclosed that he hails from Liverpool and still lives in a council house.
The rapper’s songs have racked up millions upon millions of streams, including the track Phantom featuring Rico Ace, which has been listened to more than 90 million times on Spotify. His single Rebel has reached number 16 in the Official UK Albums Chart.
Timothee has already had a foray into the world of music, after he took on the role of Bob Dylan in the biopic A Complete Unknown. The film starred French Dispatch star Timothee record several of the musician’s songs, much to critical acclaim.
Among the songs he sang were some of Bob’s biggest hits, including “Blowin’ in the Wind”, “House of the Rising Sun” and “Like a Rolling Stone”. The film itself was praised by critics, with many praising the star’s surprisingly talented vocal skills.
Speaking on the ability to sing live for the film, TImothee said that he had some five years of singing practice before he took on the role. He added that this was down to the COVID pandemic, which helped him gain vital confidence to take his vocals for a spin on the film set.
Chalamet stars in Dune: Part Three (Dune: Messiah) which comes out on December 18. The actor is also set to star in the film High Side, where he plays a MotoGP racer, which is due to come out next year.
