Bob The Builder voice actor dies aged 62 after cancer battle

William Dufris, the actor who voiced the iconic children’s TV character Bob the Builder in the US and Canada has died.

William was just 62 years old when he lost his battle with cancer.

A statement released on Wednesday confirmed the sad news saying: “We are heartbroken to announce that the co-founder of @pocketplot and the director of EC Comics Presents… The Vault of Horror, William Dufris, has died from cancer.

“There is a hole in a lot of people’s hearts right now.

“We will have more to say later. Bless you, Bill.”

Dufris the the voice of Bob in America and Canadian for the first nine series.

He stepped down from the role in 2006.

Bob The Builder was created in the UK by Keith Chapman before being sold all over the globe.

The British version was originally voiced by Neil Morrissey.

In 2011, five years after Dufris stepped down from his US voice over role, the format was sold to Mattel for a staggering $680 million.

The show was subsequently revamped in 2014 which saw the cartoon graphics updated and a new cast brought in to voice the characters.

Away from Bob the Builder, Dufris voiced the character of Elivs and Dougan in children’s series Rocky and the Dodos.

He also built up his own audio production company.
