Dancing On Ice hit by Ofcom complaints as Rita Ora performs after illegal party

Dancing On Ice has been hit with a flurry of Ofcom complaints after Rita Ora performed on the show last week.

Daily Star previously revealed how Rita, 30, was set to make her music comeback on the show after being busted for hosting an illegal party for her birthday last year.

Dressed in a bright red suit and with statement yellow hair, the chart-topper stunned as she belted out new single Bang Bang.

However, despite the impressive performance, many viewers were left raging that Rita was given a platform after she broke Covid rules in 2020.

Ofcom have confirmed that they have received 78 official complaints about the pop starlet’s inclusion on Sunday’s show.

The governing body have not confirmed if the complaints will be upheld or not.

The performance, which was used to help promote Rita’s new EP Bang, was pre-recorded before the starlet jetted Down Under to film The Voice Australia.

Last November, despite being in the middle of a pandemic, and with the infection rate spiralling out of control, Rita decided she would party with some of her closest pals at Kensington haunt Casa Cruz.

The police were called by a concerned member of the public but upon arrival were unable to gain access to the venue.

A recent hearing held by Chelsea and Kensington council heard how CCTV had been deliberately turned off.

It concluded that the plush venue would have its premises licence suspended for six weeks after a review.

The former manager Mr Scottie Bhattarai, who claimed Rita’s team offered him £5,000 to host the party, has also been banned from entering or remaining on the licensed premises.

Speaking last year Rita offered a grovelling public apology insisting her decision had been a huge error in judgement and a spur of the moment thing.

The current series of Dancing On Ice has been plagued with problems.

First Denise Van Outen was forced to pull out of the show, then Rufus Hound and Billie Shepherd were also forced to quit the series.

Earlier this week professional skater Hamish, who was paired with Faye Brookes, confirmed he would be stepping down after a torn tendon injury he suffered off the ice.

The number of drop-outs has become so bad that even Phillip Schofield joked to co-host Holly Willoughby that they could soon have to take to the ice as they kicked off Sunday’s episode.
