Good Morning Britain fans have been left divided after watching the first episode of the ITV breakfast show following the shock departure of Piers Morgan.
ITV announced on Tuesday afternoon that Piers, 55, has decided to leave his role after over five years as anchor.
The decision comes after Ofcom revealed that it had received more than 41,000 complaints over the presenter’s claims he believed Meghan Markle had ‘lied’ about feeling suicidal.
Mental health charity Mind also chastised Piers’ comments, labelling them “disappointing”.
ITV said in an official statement: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.”

“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
In light of Piers’ GMB exit, people have been questioning who will take his place and political editor Ranvir Singh stepped in to host Wednesday’s show with Susanna Reid.
Viewers at home rushed to their keyboard to share their joy at Piers no longer being on their screens early in the morning.
Taking to Twitter, one person posted: “Piers Morgan ‘leaving’ GMB is like music to my ears.”

Anther added: “I’m glad Susanna Reid gets the spotlight finally, as it’s essentially been The Piers Morgan Show and her as a sidekick.”
A third person posted: “I’m glad Piers Morgan has quit GMB.”
However, some fans said they missed the ITV star and the breakfast show was “dull” without him.
One fan tweeted: “Already turned off GMB come back @piersmorgan missing you already.”

Another added: “Piers had you gripped to the programme, now, i’m flicking between channels.”
A third person posted: “I certainly didn’t agree with all of Piers opinions, but this is very dull.”
Another added: “Unpopular opinion but #GMB is already incredibly dry without @piersmorgan”

The pair found themselves in a fiery spat on Tuesday’s show which saw Piers, 55, storm off the GMB set.
Speaking about Piers’ departure on Wednesday’s show, Susanna, 50, said: “He is without a doubt an outspoken, challenging, opinionated, disruptive broadcaster. He has many critics and he has many fans.
“You will know that I disagreed with him about Meghan’s interview. He himself clarified his comments about her mental health on the show yesterday. There are many voices on GMB and everyone has their say.”
“Now Piers has decided to leave the programme. Some of you may cheer,” Susanna went on.
“He has been my presenting partner Monday to Wednesday for more than five years and during Brexit and the pandemic and other issues he has been a voice for many of you, and a voice that many of you have railed against.
“It is certainly going to be very different. But shows go on, and so on we go.”
Good Moring Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am
