Jonnie Irwin unleased a bit of sarcasm on A Place In The Sun while taking husband and wife Teresa and Robin around apartments in Tenerife.
The couple, who are both keen chefs, planned to buy a holiday home in the beautiful Canary Island and presenter Jonnie found five properties for them to look at within their budget of £120,000 in today’s episode (March 23) on Channel 4.
Unfortunately, the search didn’t get off to a good start and the couple said one property’s kitchen was merely “an oven in a living room”.
Taking them around the €127,000 (£109,000) one-bedroom flat in Adeje, Jonnie says: “OK so open-plan this time in the living space, what say you?”
“Kitchen is too small for me,” Theresa immediately says.
“Oh good,” he says sarcastically. “How big do you need the kitchen to be?”
The kitchen only has one food preparation space wedged in-between the oven and the sink and neither Robin nor Theresa look thrilled.
“Look it’s a small apartment, could you put up with that kind of compromise?” Jonnie asks.
“I don’t know how you could prepare anything there,” says Theresa, firmly snubbing the kitchen.
On the flip side, the apartment has a gorgeous balcony overlooking the sea, and Theresa can’t help but gasp: “Wow. It’s absolutely perfect.”
“It’s just the kitchen that is letting us down,” says Robin as they admire the beautiful scenery and soak up the sun.

He adds: “It’s an oven in a living room, not a kitchen.”
The couple, who both enjoy cooking, decide the lack of counter space and cramped living room is not something they can tolerate and Jonnie is left having to reassess his choices and takes them to the north of the island – which is much cheaper.
“You will get more for your money,” he says.
