BBC Breakfast fans cringe as Louise and Dan forced to cut segment due to sound

BBC presenters Dan Walker and Louise Minchin were in for quite the shock on BBC Breakfast today after a hilarious sound blunder forced them to cut a whole segment on the show.

Whilst presenting the breakfast news show on Tuesday morning (8 June), the BBC hosts were ready to enjoy a segment led by co-star Adam McClean on UK holidays in Blackpool.

However, after cutting to presenter Adam who was sat in the giant BBC Breakfast deck chair on Blackpool beach, a major sound blooper completely derailed the beach-based segment where viewers couldn’t hear a word the reporter said.

Introducing the segment, host Dan Walker said: “Adam McClean is in Blackpool in the massive BBC Breakfast deck chair. Good morning Adam!” but Dan was soon to be left hanging by his co-star as an awkward silence filled the studio due to the sound not working.

During the awkward sound-gaffe, presenter Adam was doing his best to deliver the staycation segment but unfortunately for him, he seemed completely unaware that the viewers at home couldn’t hear anything at all.

After an excruciatingly-long silence in the studio where all we could see was Adam sitting in the comically-large deck chair on the beach, Dan finally said “Oh unfortunately we can’t hear him!”.

As Dan bursts out laughing, a cringing Louise interpreted: “I think he said ‘good morning Dan’, and ‘good morning Louise'”.

Ever the professional, Louise then tried to get the show back on track by saying: “We’ll hopefully be back with him in a little bit.”, with Dan adding “While Adam sorts his sound out we’ll show you the report he was going to give.”

But although they were able to return to Adam later in the segment after sorting out the techinical difficulties, the viewers at home couldn’t help but laugh about the mishap online – with many taking to social media to poke fun at the incident.

One BBC viewer simplytweeted: “Epic fail..”

A second social media user commented: “Turn ya mic on lol”.

A third unimpressed viewer joined in on the banter, writing sarcastically: “What a relief, the big deckchair piece has failed miserably.”

A fourth added: “And now deckchair news…..” before adding a tongue-in-cheek GIF clip of a man switching off the TV.

It comes after presenter Louise announced live on-air she would be leaving the show – in an emotional segment dedicated to her time at the BBC where she choked up and her co-star Dan praised her for being such a “great” journalist.
