BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty absent in show shake-up as Nina Warhust steps in

Naga Munchetty was missing from Thursday morning’s BBC Breakfast programme, as she takes a short break from her regular hosting schedule.

Nina Warhurst stepped in to fill the gap on the breakfast show Naga usually fronts and left fans wondering why.

Naga is normally sat next to her fellow co-host Charlie Stayt on the famous red sofa from Thursday to Saturday, but the 46-year-old presenter did not appear on Thursday’s show.

The programme’s business and consumer presenter Nina Warhurst filled the gap and presented BBC Breakfast along with Charlie as the two discussed the latest news stories.

However, there was no mention on the programme of Naga’s whereabouts or why Nina was sitting there instead.

Naga has been part of the successful BBC Breakfast team since 2010 and has become a firm fan favourite over the years.

Nina often steps in when one of the hosts can’t make the show along with other stand-ins suh as Sally Nugent and Rachel Burden.

Checking Naga’s Twitter, she hasn’t chosen to discuss her absence on there either as there is no evidence on her page about why she didn’t appear.

The usual rotation for presenters on the show normally sees Dan Walker fronting the programme from Monday to Wednesday.

Dan’s previous long-term co-presenter Louise Minchin has just recently left the daytime programme after 20 years of working at the BBC.

Naga and Charlie usually front the remainder of weekdays, with Ben Thompson, Roger Johnson and Sally Nugent often taking on the weekend presenting.

The absent host did however share a clip posted on BBC Breakfast on Thursday morning, showing her Charlie telling BBC weather forecaster Carol Kirkwood that she should be in a James Bond film.

Naga retweeted the video to her 260,000 followers and added a laughing emoji.

BBC Breakfast viewers also took to Twitter to comment on Nina’s hosting skills.

One said: “@oakapplehabdash Very pleased to see that its Charlie and @NinaWarhurst on today #bbcbreakfast I’d like to see Nina getting the permanent spot please @BBCBreakfast.”

A second commented: “#bbcbreakfast Charlie and Northern Nina look like they’ve just got back from a special screening of the latest Bond movie.”

While a third referenced Nina’s discussion with Chief Secretary to the Treasury Simon Clarke and said: “It’s good manners to avoid interrupting the interviewee when they’re trying to answer your questions & not to start reading your script, completely ignoring what they are saying! Poor & unprofessional @BBCBreakfast @NinaWarhurst #news.”
