Emily Atack says she receives online trolling on a 'daily basis' over her weight

Comedian Emily Atack has claimed she frequently receives abuse from online trolls who criticise her weight and body shape.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star, who is known for her curves, confessed she’s built up a “thick skin” since finding herself in the spotlight but believes there is “no way to deal with bullies”.

Speaking openly to The Sun’s TV Mag, Emily, 31, said: “I do have a thick skin and it’s only getting thicker, I do get tougher as the years progress.”

She added: “I don’t think there’s any way you deal with it, it upsets me but not for long, I’ll talk about something else five minutes later.

“If someone comments on something on social media that upsets me, say about my weight, I go: ‘That’s upsetting’ and then I just move on.”

In April, the Celebrity Juice star previously spoke to Women’s Health regarding her weight and how she managed to gain more body confidence since appearing on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018.

She explained: “My weight has long been criticised [on social media], so wearing a bikini in the jungle was a daunting prospect.

“But the experience forced me to rebuild my relationship with my body; because there was nowhere to hide, I had to embrace those insecurities and I returned from Australia feeling free.”

Emily will be back on screens in October with her ITV2 comedy programme, The Emily Atack show which will see the star get involved in a mix of sketches and stand up.

Talking more about the new series, Emily admitted that she can’t believe she is able to do it for a second time even though she does find it tiring to do.

For the second series, the blonde beauty will be doing more impressions of fan favourites including This Morning’s Holly Willoughby, former TOWIE resident Gemma Collins and Loose Women’s Stacey Solomon.

She will also add more familiar faces to her repertoire, including Davina McCall, Lorraine Kelly and Anna Richardson.

Since her programme first aired, the presenter also believes she has attracted a new audience to her live stand-up shows and said more women have found an interest in her performances.
