Former reality TV star Jasmine Burkett is living in a tent in Wales with her fiancé after once finding fame on BBC show Small Teen, Bigger World.
The now 27-year-old starred in the hit reality show in 2011 alongside her mum Bev.
The 3ft 11in star, who was born with a rare form of dwarfism, is now living in a Bell canvas tent with her fiancé, Lewis Burke, from Denbighshire, and their husky dog Loki, after they failed in their bid to get a council home together.
Despite her unusual living conditions, Jasmine, who goes by Jazz, has insisted they are perfectly happy with “tent life” in Bodelwyddan, where they camp on land owned by Jazz’s family.
Jazz, originally from Conwy county, got engaged to Lewis in July after a whirlwind romance that began in February.
Lewis, 27, explained what triggered their decision to live outside: “I think I was 104 on the housing list with Denbighshire Council, and although I was offered accommodation in Llangollen it meant I had to get four buses to see Jazz who lived in Conwy county which I did every day.”
Given the couple’s desire to be together they experimented by wild camping all over North Wales and “absolutely loved it”.
“Sometimes we stayed on proper camping sites but paying monthly to stay on them would cost around £600 as prices have shot up so we had no alternative but to wild camp,” said Lewis.
He added: “Living outside amongst nature is really good for my mental health as it is for Jazz, we both suffer from different mental health problems but hearing the dawn chorus and seeing nature really helps us both.”
Jazz agreed: “I think tent life has saved us and made us. Of course there are downsides as I am a bit more vulnerable with my health history.
“Sometimes I wake up and I’m just not feeling it but Loki is a reason to get up in the morning.
“I find it a bit harder to do some of the jobs like collecting firewood and so on but Lewis is super strong so that helps.”
The couple are currently camping on some land in Bodelwyddan owned by Jazz’s family, paying £150-a-month for their spot and access to electricity.
When asked what they’d say to those doubters who would say they should get full-time jobs to fund their lifestyles, Lewis responded: “We are both working just not in an office.
“We are building up a large social media following, we are doing our own podcasts and starting to produce our own merchandise, so will have different creative revenue streams.”
