ITV's The Chase fans distracted as they spot pop star link to contestant line up

The Chase fans couldn’t help but point out the celebrity connection to pop singers during the latest instalment of the popular ITV game show.

Bradley Walsh returned to the daytime show and welcomed Monday’s group of quiz heads to take on the Chaser in order to bring home the cash prize.

As they got comfortable in their seats, host Bradley introduced players Marvin, Whitney, Beverly and Rhidian – who unfortunately was knocked out in the first round.

But as the new group battled Shaun Wallace in order to build up the jackpot, viewers couldn’t help but notice the comical connection between the line-up on the show.

Although this episode was a repeat from a previous series, viewers watched the show with the same enthusiasm as they shared their thoughts online.

And it didn’t take long before fans took to Twitter to discuss the strange coincidence online.

One viewer penned: “All nearly musical icons, Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston, Beverly Knight, Rhidian [confused emoji] #TheChase repeat.”

A third theorised: “The naming crew are at it again …” while another fan of the show agreed: “Pop star team today”.

Elsewhere, another user chimed in with: “Musical line up for tonights show #TheChase.”

Meanwhile, a fellow viewer added: “Marvin, Beverely, Whitney, Rhidian – all singers. Penny just dropped. #TheChase.”

But this isn’t the only time viewers have spotted a musical connection to the contestant line-up as viewers swarmed to social media last month when they spotted the pop star names on air.

During the show, fans quickly spotted the celebrity link to hit singers Lily Allen and Craig David as they fought to take home the cash prize.

While the four egg heads joined the show, host Bradley welcomed players Lilly, Alan, Craig and David.

And even the Governess Anne Hegerty noticed the similarity as she shared the comical connection on the show.

Quiz champion Anne opened the episode asking: “Haven’t you noticed, Bradley, we have a very musical team?”

To which he confusedly replied: “No,” as Anne went on to share the connection to the chart-topping singers: “Lilly Allan and Craig David.”
