BBC Breakfast turns awkward as politician's young daughter interrupts live TV interview

BBC Breakfast took an unexpected turn during the latest edition of the morning show as a politician’s daughter interrupted a live interview.

Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty were back on our screens on Thursday morning to bring the latest breaking news from across the world.

Tom Tugendhat MP, Chair of the Foreign Affairs select Committee, appeared on the programme to discuss the latest news on the Ukraine Crisis.

However, things didn’t go quite to plan as Mr Tugendhat’s daughter appeared on camera during the live interview.

As the MP spoke to Charlie via video call, the little girl came into view of the camera and started tapping her father.

Charlie pointed out: “I’m sorry you’ve got an interruption there. Are you OK?”

Mr Tugendhat quickly turned to his little girl and signalled for her to be quiet before adding: “Sorry, go on.”

“Are you OK to carry on? I’m just checking.” Charlie asked.

Mr Tugendhat responded “I am, yes.”.

The interview continued but its not the first time Mr Tugendhat’s daughter has joined her father during a televised interview.

He was appearing on Sky’s Trevor Philips when he was joined by his sleepy young daughter, who appeared oblivious to the fact dad was talking on live TV,

Mr Tugendhat, who left the British Army in July 2013 after a career in which he served on operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, demonstrated remarkable calm and continued while cradling his daughter on his lap.

In March last year, the politician was again conducting a live TV interview when his two young children decided to make cameo appearance.

The Conservative MP was talking to Sky News from his home office in Tonbridge, Kent, when his son appeared, asking his father if he could help him paint his face.

The smiling politician told his son to leave, telling him: “I’ll do your face painting in a minute.”

Mr Tugendhat continued with the interview until he was interrupted for a second time, this time by his young daughter, Beatrice.

Adam! can you be a little bit quiet please?” the MP pleaded with his son at one point.

The interview was concluded after a few minutes, when Mr Tugendhat apologised for the background noise.
