EastEnders fans have spotted a major link between the soap’s Walford General Hospital set and recently axed BBC medical drama, Holby City.
Viewers were given a harsh reminder of the now cancelled series after the set was used for some scenes in the soap.
Eagle-eyed fans recognised the old hospital set used for scenes involving Ben Mitchell and Kheerat Panesar on last week’s episode as they visited the sexual health clinic to get Ben’s HIV test results.

As the pair strolled down the clinic’s corridors, fans began realizing it looked strangely familiar.
‘Random question… The Walford Sexual Health clinic looks remarkably like the old Holby set or is it me? #EastEnders ’ tweeted one sharp-eyed fan and others were quick to pitch in and agree.

‘they actually are using the Holby set’ one said while another demanded, ‘RIGHT, WHYY?? GET HOLBY BACK ON THAT SET.’
Though some were comforted by the Holby nod, saying: ‘Holby lives on in the form of Walford General’.
EastEnders is filmed right next door to the buildings that once belonged to Holby City, making the fusion an obvious choice for the BBC.

Holby City’s axing after 23 years caused a massive outcry. Fans praised the show for its groundbreaking storylines and its diversity and inclusivity, strong characterisation and its focus on the work of the NHS.
Most of the medical equipment used on the soap such as hospital beds was donated back to the NHS and refugee charities after the show ended.

Elsewhere on tonight’s episode, Eve turns up to support Suki at the opening of the Panesars’ new GP surgery, but is disappointed when Suki is frosty towards her.
Later, when they have time to talk, Eve is heartbroken to realise that Suki will always hide their relationship.
Meanwhile, Sam gets Ben back on side by making him co-manager at the club.
Ben arrogantly turns up at the club, acting like the boss in front of Zack and Chelsea.
