Singer Matt Goss has said it’s difficult to show his cheeky side on Strictly Come Dancing when he is being critiqued by the judges.
The When Will I Be Famous star is partnered with professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova on the popular BBC programme, and recently took to social media to connect with fans following his appearance.
Speaking on an Instagram Live session, Matt was asked by fans about his cheeky side, which the singer said was difficult to show as he’s keen to learn from the all-star judging panel.

“The cheeky side of me, which you know exists, and I have quite a dry sense of humour, is very difficult when you’re being critiqued by the judges,” said Matt.
“You have to be a gentleman. I want to stand there and I want to learn from what they’re saying. Even if it doesn’t sit right.
“As a South-East London boy you want to go, ‘what’d you say?’ but you have to take it on the chin, good and proper. You have to take it on the chin and learn from it.”
Matt and Nadiya found themselves in the bottom two during Sunday night’s episode, where they competed in a dance-off against Loose Women star Kaye Adams and partner Kai Widdrington.
However, following the intense dance off, Kaye wasn’t saved by the judges and the couple became the first to leave the competition.
Speaking about the close bond he formed with Kaye during their time on the show, Matt said: “It was tough doing the dance off,” adding: “certainly against someone who I really cared for.
“Kaye [Adams] became such a good friend and she’s such a kind person.
“As a gentleman it was difficult for me to even want to do the dance off. I understand that’s part of it, but I’m also learning as we go. It’s all very new for me.”
Describing Strictly as “an incredible experience,” Matt also spoke about rehearsals for Saturday’s live show, revealing: “It was a very emotional rehearsal – in a good way.
“Everything was stunning.”
Matt also addressed fans at the beginning of the Instagram Live, and thanked them for their support as the star enters the third week of the competition.
“I really wanted to come on Live, because I feel like possibly I’m slightly more reserved than maybe I should be on Strictly, but I’m really…I want you to know that I am having a good time,” said Matt.
He later added: “I just want to say thank you for the love you have been showing me, also the understanding. Really, I’ve missed you guys on a more mellow level, as that resonates with me as an artist.”
