BBC Breakfast host walks off-screen after Naga Munchetty orders him to leave

BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty clearly felt like ruffling feathers on Friday (January 6) when she ordered her co-star Matt Taylor to leave the screen.

Naga likes to tease her colleagues and she couldn’t help having a cheeky pop at forecaster Matt right as he finished his weather report.

Signing off his segment, Matt said: “We start the weekend on a mild note, so there is lots of rain around. The full moon is out, it is in full force.”

The meteorologist moved out of shot for a moment during the report, prompting Naga to poke fun at him by joking she preferred it when he wasn’t on screen.

Naga teased: “I liked the view when you stepped away from the camera.”

Luckily, Matt saw the funny side of the jibe and leaned into the joke by stepping off-screen.

“Much better,” Naga said. “Bye, thanks, Matt. See you later.”

Ben Thompson jumped to Matt’s defence as she said: “About half an hour ago, you were telling him how much we loved him.”

But Naga hit back: “I do love him,” before adding: “t was because he was blocking a picture.”

It didn’t stop there, though, because in the same show she swiped at sports presenter Mike Bushell by joking he looked “tired”.

She put on a jokingly angry tone as she asked him: “Now… tired, Mike?”

Mike turned to the camera with a worried look, replying: “Am I? I haven’t got any sleep last night, actually!”

But Naga reassured him she was only joking as “fatigue” was a key theme in his pending football segment.

She referred to the early rises BBC Breakfast stars have to endure when she replied: “No. I think it’s something we’re all very familiar with, but your analysis of sport today has a theme of fatigue.”

Mike agreed: “There’s a certain element, isn’t there, in terms of people talking about the tiredness of the premier league players that have been to the World Cup,” before beginning his report.
