The dad-of-two claims his older brother who he calls “Willy” in his memoir ripped a necklace off of him and “attacked” him after coming to blows in Nottingham Cottage.
Now, Vanessa Feltz has shared her views on the matter, insisting that the warring brothers were simply doing what every pair of siblings do.
During an appearance on This Morning, Vanessa said: “Am I the only person who thinks that all of this is so skewed and weird because we’re talking now about fisty-cuffs, violent altercations, William grabs Harry and rips off his necklace, Harry breaks the dog bowl, serious, serious.
“But think back to everyone’s Christmas! As soon as you go back home to your family, you start to behave like you do when you were 12, six, and three, you know you do.
“Everybody reverts back to childhood. How many people – I’m not saying get into a really deep punch-up and violently attack relatives – but who didn’t just [hit] your sister over Christmas, or grab a present and give a bit of a kick?”
In one staggering extract, Harry writes that William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and… knocked me to the floor”.
During the argument, William said he was trying to help Harry who accused his older brother of acting like an heir.
Harry responded as he said: “Are you serious? Help me? Sorry – is that what you call this? Helping me?”
According to Harry, his response angered William, who stepped towards him and began swearing which caused Harry to walk away from William who followed him into the kitchen.
Harry claims that the pair came to blows, adding: “It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor.
“I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
Harry claims William wanted him to hit him back, but the Duke of Sussex declined the invitation to punch the Prince of Wales.
