Inside 2023 Oscars $100,000 goodie bags – luxury holidays to free liposuction

The Oscars is one of the most anticipated showbiz events of the year, with actors, filmmakers and producers eagerly marking it down on their calendars.

And while winners walk away with a gong and a boost to their reputations, nominees don’t go away empty-handed, either.

Each year since 1999, Hollywood Oscar nominees are handed an incredible goodie bag worth $100,000 (£82,400). These ‘Everybody Wins’ gift sets are handed out by Distinctive Assets, and regularly make headlines.

This year is no different, as nominees will be handed an eye-watering treasure trove of gifts.

Daily Star takes a peek inside these coveted goodie bags to see what our favourite Hollywood hunks and femme fatales are getting this year.

Luxury holidays

First up, nominees can expect to receive not one but two luxury holidays in their sparkly gift sets.

The first is a trip for eight people to the Faro Punta Imperatore Lighthouse in Italy. The nominee and their pals will spend three nights in the newly renovated property, which overlooks the city of Naples.

Next, nominees can jet off to Ottawa, Canada, for a three night stay at The Lifestyle.

It’s an ultra-modern, totally private property set in a 10-acre estate, perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of paps in Hollywood.

The property involves a swimming pool, movie room, a fire pit and even a classic sports car to get around in.

Skincare

In this year’s bag, nominees can also expect a handful of skincare products, including luxury brand Miage’s full line of products.

The “transformative skincare” brand pledges to “support and celebrate the present you”, and includes lip treatments, eye elixirs, facial washes and lotions, plus a night cream.

If you’re looking to get your hands on one of the products for yourself, expect to pay anywhere from $30 (£25) to $179 (£149).

The goodie bag will also include a sample of Vegan Retinol serum from luxe Canadian skincare brand ēcōMD.

Their own land

Dream of being a landowner? Well, get yourself nominated for an Oscar!

This year’s nominees will also receive their very own plot of land in Australia via Pieces of Australia – but they won’t be able to construct their own properties there.

Instead, the land plot will contribute to conservation and reforestation efforts around the country.

This year’s bags also include a curated gift set of hand-harvested dates from Bateel’s organic farm, located in the Al Ghat region of Saudi Arabia.

Nominees will also receive a stunning luggage set and flip-flops from Havaianas, fun undershirts from Bored Rebel, hair care products and wine.

They’ll even receive their own reading from a shaman, a chocolate box complete with a personalised video inside from m cacao, a travel pillow from PETA and a customised luxury gemstone bracelet from Rareté Studios.

Free liposuction

Though this year celebs will have to splash their own cash on plastic surgery, in 2022, free liposuction was part of the bags.

The swag bag from last year included a plot of land in Scotland from Highland Titles, gold-infused olive oil and – wait for it – $10,000 (£8,300) worth of cosmetic procedures.

The offering came from Dr Konstantin Vasyukevich at his Upper East Side surgery, and included laser skin resurfacing, injectables, fillers and Botox.

Separate from that was a free course of Celebrity Arms Sculpting liposuction from Florida-based clinic Art Lipo.

The procedure was said to be worth between $9,500 (£7,900) and $15,000 (£12,500).

Extra costs

It isn’t easy to land your brand a spot in the coveted gift bag. Brands splash out $4,000 (£3,335) in order to be featured in the Oscars goodie bag.

The bags are unaffiliated with the ceremony itself – but there’s a good reason for wanting to be placed in there anyway.

If a celebrity does choose to use your product and photographs themselves doing so, that’s a huge boost for any brand – so it makes sense.

Lash Fary, owner of Distinctive Assets who provide the bags, explained to Marketing Brew: “Everyone wants to win the lottery. But you can’t win if you don’t buy a ticket. And being a part of these gift bags is like buying a lottery ticket.”
