Piers Morgan’s response to Phillip Schofield’s explosive affair after defending ITV king

Piers Morgan has finally weighed in on Phillip Schofield’s explosive affair – and it appears as though he left the outspoken broadcaster lost for words.

But the GB News presenter has finally shared his thoughts on the matter, as he took to Twitter to share his one-word response to the jaw-dropping news online.

Phillip, who announced his departure from This Morning last week, revealed he had an affair with a younger male employee at ITV while he was married to his wife Stephanie Lowe.

He was consequently dropped by his management team YMU, who released their own statement confirming that they’d separated from Phil immediately.

What’s more, he has also stepped down from ITV and he won’t be hosting the British Soap Awards next week.

Now, the former Good Morning Britain host has hit out at the dad-of-two as he shared his thoughts on the drama.

Taking to Twitter, he simply wrote: “Blimey … [shocked emoji]” as his 8.4million followers shared their disappointment at his simple response.

It comes after Piers backed the broadcaster as he revealed his private conversation with Phillip following his departure from the ITV daytime show last week.

He told The Sun: “I don’t know the full story behind Phillip Schofield’s downfall, but where I feel personal empathy with him is over the manner of his sacking.

“For ITV not to even give him the chance to say a proper goodbye to his large, loyal audience after 21 years struck me as needlessly churlish, and I know he’s utterly heartbroken about it because he told me himself.”

Piers took to Twitter following his interview to defend his fellow presenter, adding: “Phillip’s not the evil monster he’s being painted as, nor is her the angel his previously halo-clad reputation suggested.”

He went on to brand ITV bosses “savages” and “Vipers over their treatment of Phillip, who he argued made This Morning one of the most successful shows on the channel.
