Jimmy Buffett has died “peacefully” aged 76, his family have confirmed.
In a statement shared on social media, his family said: “Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs.

“He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.”
The famous musician has left an incredible legacy behind from his 60-year career and a huge net worth which was recently valued at $1billion.
The Margaritaville singer leaves behind his wife, Jane Slagsvol, who he tied the knot with in 1977, and his three children, Savannah, Sarah and Cameron.
Before tying the knot with Jane, he was married to a woman called Margie Washichek for three years from 1969 to 1972.
Tributes for Jimmy poured in online as one user wrote on X: “Legendary and powerful musician. Thanks for all the songs.”
While another said: “RIP to the iconic, legendary Jimmy Buffett He was an entertainer beyond entertainers, even transcending to becoming synonymous with a whole lifestyle of living slow and easy and carefree.
“He was a true original and can never be duplicated.”
A third said: “RIP Jimmy Buffett. What a great guy.”
Jimmy had been dealing with health struggled prior to his death and was in and out of hospital in the months leading up to now.
He was admitted to hospital back in May which prompted a postponement of a Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band concert due to take place at the time.
Although he didn’t share his health issues with his fans, he left a poignant statement and wrote on his site: “Growing old is not for sissies, I promise you.
“Thank you for your prayers and thoughts, your amazing years of loyalty, and just remember, ‘NOT YET!'”
Jimmy was preparing to release a new album prior to his death, after releasing over 50 albums throughout his very long career.
He is best known for his hit singles Margaritaville, Come Monday, and Cheeseburger in Paradise.
