Big Brother in huge format change for first time ever as fans brand move ‘silly mistake’

Big Brother has made made a major change to the nomination process for the rebooted ITV2 series.

After a five-year hiatus, the reality show is back and 16 housemates all got to nominate one person to evict during Friday’s (October 13) episode. Fans of the show remember that the contestants used to be able to vote for two people to send home each week.

However, the new batch of stars were only asked to name one housemate to evict in a huge show shake-up and lifelong fans of the show rushed to social media to discuss the new format.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “Silly mistake on BB’s part. Two nominations each is better because the first choice is easier and the second causes drama. A lot about this new version to like, but A lot makes no sense. It just feels ITV are trying too hard.” Another added: “Should be two nominations hope they go back to the old way from next week.”

A third person said: “Thats odd only 1, not sure I like it.” Someone else said: “Perhaps it’s just a one off.” and fifth viewer agreed: “Hopefully just for this week only!” The first round in nominations led to Kerry and Farida being put up for eviction by their fellow housemates.

NHS worker Kerry received a crushing blow hours before facing the first eviction. The bookies have the NHS manager priced as 4/6 favourite to be sent packing, while fellow nominated housemate Farida is 6/5 as things stand.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Kerry and Farida have both failed to really strike a chord with viewers up to this point, but the odds suggest the latter will be safe for at least one more eviction, with punters leaning towards an imminent exit for Kerry.”

Makeup artist Farida, 50, is facing severe backlash over her remarks deemed “insensitive” regarding NHS manager Kerry, aged 40, who is battling multiple sclerosis.

In a recent episode of the rebooted reality how, contestants found themselves tasked with working for a make-believe corporation presided over by Big Brother, complete with top executives, middle management, and staff in subordinate roles.

At the onset of the trial, both Farida and Kerry were assigned to the middle management category. However, Farida later singled out Kerry for her non-involvement in physically demanding chores, especially those in the kitchen.

This ignited a storm of reactions on social media, with viewers criticising her for “perpetuating stereotypes about individuals with disabilities.

Infuriated viewers swiftly labeled Farida as “inappropriate”, “disgraceful” and “ignorant” with one commenter noting: “Nothing irks me more than such lazy rhetoric. It’s impossible to comprehend the level of pain, fatigue, and other factors affecting a person at any given moment.”
