Married at First Sight star Matt Jameson revealed fun-filled scenes were cut from his honeymoon and instead replaced with storylines centred on drama.
The Leeds-born star appeared on the show in 2021 and was in the first-ever gay couple with ex-boyfriend Daniel McKee. The former couple had a two-year romance before parting ways in December 2022.
Matt opened up about his honeymoon with Dan, who hails from Northern Ireland, admitting he was “disappointed” that light-hearted moments didn’t make it into the show. He exclusively told Daily Star: “There was some really great stuff that me and Dan did on our honeymoon that I was really disappointed wasn’t shown because I would have loved to see it.”

“We went to this lagoon with a zip wire and snorkelling and I kind of nearly drowned because I can’t snorkel,” he laughed. “It was a really funny scene and after the filming we had do some voice over stuff and that was once of the scenes where they needed me to resay something, but it never aired!”
Matt, who works in the charity sector, admitted he felt the producers were “clutching at straws” by airing drama-filled scenes between the couple as they were getting on perfectly during their honeymoon in Mexico.
He added: “We watched the honeymoon and we were getting on really well but then they made the main element of it about Dan not wanting to move from Northern Ireland. That became the drama.
“They were clutching at straws a bit because we were getting on so well but they wanted to create some drama.” At the time, Matt and Dan were delayed on their honeymoon, likely due to Covid-19 restrictions, and left fans in uproar over their whereabouts.
The newlyweds hadn’t been present for the first commitment ceremony and dinner party, and without an explanation on the show, fans were left wondering if the couple had split on their honeymoon. But Matt suggested the lack of explanation was perhaps done on purpose by producers.
The TV star went on “We didn’t come back from the honeymoon and we weren’t at the first dinner party and I think that’s why they did it. They made it a big, ‘Are they still together or did they fall out on honeymoon?'”
Matt revealed he has things in the pipeline that he’s excited about and teased fans with an announcement before Christmas. “There’s some exciting stuff in the works at the moment, some exciting stuff that I’ve been working on,” he said.
Matt continued: “I can’t really say anything about it at the moment but I’m excited about it. And there’s definitely going to be an announcement before Christmas.”
