Carol Vorderman ‘overwhelmed’ after floods of support as she sensationally quits show

TV and radio star Carol Vorderman quit her BBC Radio Wales show after strict guidelines were implemented.

The 62-year-old has been sharing her political opinions on a regular basis in recent weeks, and with new guidelines restricting her from doing so, she decided her time was up. Carol released her statement on November 8, and since then she’s been flooded with support.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Carol wrote: “Evening, from my heart, thank you for your overwhelming support today. Just bowled over by it.

“You’re so wonderful, genuinely thank you. I’ll now increase calling out this disgusting Tory govt with facts and data which the right wing media fails to publish. #StrongerTogether.”

Carol has been particularly vocal in sharing her own opinions on the government in recent weeks and she was adamant to not be silenced. She was flooded for support once more as one person wrote: “Well done Carol, everybody is behind you.”

Another wrote: “Onwards and upwards!” While a fourth wrote: “Stay strong Carol, keep doing you.”

Earlier that day Carol had explained that she respected the BBC’s decision to introduce new social media guidelines. However, it was soon made clear to her that given the show was in her name, the guidelines would apply to all of her content.

She told her followers: “Since those non-negotiable changes to my radio contract were made, I’ve ultimately found that I’m not prepared to lose my voice on social media, change who I am or lose the ability to express the strong beliefs I hold about the political turmoil this country finds itself in.”

Carol explained she made the decision to continue to criticise the government and isn’t prepared to stop. She added: “Consequently I have now breached the new guidelines and BBC Wales management have decided I must leave. We each must make our decisions.”

She sent well wishes to her colleagues and listeners and said she would miss them all, before adding: “But for now, another interesting chapter begins.”

Carol had been hosting the Saturday morning show for five years but after the new rules her time had come to a close.
