Good Morning Britain host Charlotte Hawkins was left stunned after her co-host Sam Nash made a ‘brutal’ swipe at her age.
Hawkins, 48, took to the hosting chair on Tuesday (December 19) as she presented the show together with Richard Madeley on ITV. During the show, news anchor Sam Nash also joined the duo as he read out the remainder of the news stories of the day so far.
After talking about the heart-breaking story of dogs looking to be taken in around Christmas, attention turned to the celebrations of the big day. This was spurred on by a picture that the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, had released of herself as a child spending quality time with her family.

Charlotte, Richard and Sam gushed over the photo, which saw the princess as a toddler opening presents. Richard and Charlotte particularly shared their thoughts on whether Kate bore a striking family resemblance to her own family – in particular, her son Prince Louis.
Hawkins then took it upon herself to share her own memory of Christmas at home. Aged around four, Hawkins seemed to beam with happiness as she described the gorgeous snap and the memories associated with the pic.
“So I’ve dug through the archives, so this is me with my granny!” she gushed as the picture came up on the screen. “I’m about four here, you can see how proud I am.”
In the snap, Charlotte is seen playing with her grandmother, as she interacts with the iconic electronic dog toy that walks and barks. “I was extremely proud of that,” she recalled as Richard pointed out it may have been an early indicator of the presenter’s future love for our furry friends.
“That was the first dog I got, in its initial form,” she said. “I think that’s what started off my love for dogs.”
She added that she was also a fan of the overall aesthetic of the picture, remarking it was very clearly a dated picture. “I’m laughing at how 1970s is that?
“We’ve got the brown-pattern sofa, brown-pattern curtains, loads of tinsel on the tree,” she continued. “I’ve got a chicken pox scab on the middle of my forehead – I mean that’s a lovely photo – and a beautiful fringe; thanks mum for that one!”
Sam was quick to make the dig, seeing the opportunity at her vivid description of the room. Looking at his co-star, he said: “I didn’t know you were born in the 1960s!”
Charlotte was shocked at the swipe, immediately telling her co-host to shush himself. “Won’t you be quiet,” Hawkins hit back as she tried to carry on with the show.
“It was quite a long time ago,” Sam quipped back as the three hosts laughed together on the awkward remark. Charlotte added: “‘It was a long time ago?’ Probably just a few years ago!”
Good Morning Britain airs every weekday at 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
