He added that he’s “excited” and “blessed”, and can’t wait to get started. The actor will appear alongside Adam Garcia, known for his roles in Coyote Ugly and stage productions such as Saturday Night Fever.
Ian Fleming’s original novel, Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang: The Magical Car, was released in 1964. It was later turned into a film in 1968, featuring stars like Dick Van Dyke, the late Sally Ann Howes and the late Lionel Jeffries. The upcoming tour is set to kick off at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton in April. It will then travel to places like Newcastle, Torquay, Inverness, Liverpool, Llandudno and Birmingham, with the tour wrapping up at the Wales Millenium Centre in Cardiff in April next year.
The story teases: “We meet absent-minded inventor Caractacus Potts who restores a broken-down old racing car with the help of his children Jemima and Jeremy. Soon the family discover the car has magical powers, and along with the delectable Truly Scrumptious and Grandpa Potts, they end up on a fantastical adventure to far off lands.” The new show is directed by Thom Southerland and choreographed by Karen Bruce, known for her work on Strictly Come Dancing.
Fans of the soap will know that Liam left Emmerdale last year after his character Dan Spencer was imprisoned for manslaughter after accidentally killing his teenage daughter Amelia’ Spencer’s (Daisy Campbell) cyberstalker Lloyd when he punched him.
