One of Celebrity Big Brother’s biggest icons has revealed that she “came back from the dead” after an extensive time in hospital.
Lauren Harries, 45, first shot to fame as a child antiques expert, but gained a huge new following when she appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2013. Since then, she has become a staple of reality TV, appearing on the likes of Naked Attraction.
But in April last year, Harries was rushed to hospital after experiencing a series of terrifying blackouts and horrific headaches. Her symptoms were so strong that she was forced to have emergency brain surgery to stop her from getting worse, being put into a medically-induced coma after the procedure.

But her health crisis did not stop there, as she was not allowed to leave the hospital for another seven months following the ordeal. It was only just before Christmas when Lauren was given the all clear and was free to go.
Since then, Lauren has been making a steady recovery at home, and has been recalling her experiences with her legion of loyal fans. Taking to her Twitter profile on Wednesday (February 14), the Big Brother legend revealed that she had five holes made in her head during the incident.
“I was dead and in a coma but now I’m alive – I have had to learn to walk again, do everything again,” she explained, “after the brain surgery had left five holes in my head.”
She added that there were times when she was not even present in the room following her traumatic experience. “I went to a different dimension, what you call an outer body experience, it’s such a beautiful place – I will tell you about it soon,” she finished.
Some of Lauren’s fans were thrilled to see her well enough to get onto social media, with one eager well-wisher writing: “Glad you are healing well Lauren, I can’t imagine how scary your hospital stay was!” A second user added: “Sending love Lauren, such a remarkable recovery.”
Whilst a third fan gave their best wishes, penning: “I love hearing about near death experiences and completely believe that this life is just a stepping stone of many. You must have felt great comfort from it.”
After her emergency brain surgery, doctors also found that she a split within her spine during an MRI. As a result, she was kept in for much longer, and required “high-risk” surgery to repair the cord.
Despite their best efforts, mother Katy confirmed that the operation was unsuccessful and that Lauren would need to stay longer in hospital, even though she was pleading to “get home”. In August, medics told Lauren that she might never be able to walk again.
She took to her platforms again after hearing the news, asking fans desperately what could she possibly do. ” have been told today I may never walk again, I am still in shock; what am I going to do – love you my stars,” she wrote.
