Coronation Street fans are sure there’s something dodgy about newcomer Bobby Crawford.
Bobby first appeared in the soap late last year, introducing himself as killer Rob’s son and Carla’s nephew, and soon moved in with his aunty on the cobbles. As well as striking up a friendship with Simon Barlow and the first inkling of a romance with Lauren Bolton, fans think he’s hiding a deeper connection.
Rumours have been flying that Bobby is set to be involved in a new storyline with Bethany Platt – and some are sure they’ve rumbled just how it will come to be. Bethany was groomed by Nathan Curtis, her ex-fiancé, who then attempted to pimp her out.

He intended to sell her as a sex slave abroad, but before he could get her out of the UK, her family alerted the police. Nathan was found guilty of rape along with other members of his gang – but it’s certainly plausible he could return now that Bethany has come back from London.

Nathan was eventually sent down for running a grooming ring, which is how fans think he came to know Bobby’s dad Rob – in prison. Taking to Reddit to share their theories, one fan suggested: “Maybe Bobby is connected to Nathan somehow and Bethany finds out, is appropriately devastated, etc. etc. Ooh maybe his dad was/is in prison with Nathan?”
Another suggested: “Both Bobby and Bethany have involvement with Lauren, Bobby romantically and Bethany was going to interview Lauren over her far-right connections with the Griff gang. Bethany has already made contact with some of the gang and then Lauren disappeared.
“Is Lauren going to be missing for an extended period? There is also speculation over connections to when Bethany was groomed and if Lauren is now a victim of Nathan who groomed Bethany.”
It has long since been suggested that Lauren is being groomed by Nathan, after Bobby spotted vibrant bruises on her shoulder. She’s clearly been pressured by someone on the phone to start an OVidz account – but fans don’t yet know who her boyfriend is. She claimed the bruise was from falling down the stairs, but Bobby clearly didn’t believe her.

Taking to X, one fan suggested: “What are them bruises on Lauren? What is she involved with? Could it be Nathan she’s involved with? Bethany’s groomer from years back?” Another echoed: “Lauren’s boyfriend is Nathan isn’t it, why oh why would you do this Corrie.” A third added: “Is Lauren’s boyfriend Nathan (Bethany’s abusive ex) by any chance?”
Bethany has already established a shaky relationship with Lauren, using her to sell a story to Chit Chat magazine as Lauren offered to sell her own on Griff’s gang. But what lies in store for the pair, even the keenest of fans aren’t sure.
