Coronation Street’s David Neilson has admitted “it’s going to get worse” for Roy Cropper as he gets arrested for murder.
The soap legend, who has been on the cobbles since 1995, will find himself as the prime suspect in the disappearance of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). Fans will recall how the troubled youngster went missing last month – with Roy being the last known person to see her alive.
Lauren’s pal Bobby has been left concerned over her whereabouts, and after finding her flat empty and in a state, he went to the cops to report her missing. And during Friday’s episode (March 8), due to Lauren going AWOL, Roy (David Neilson) is told that Evelyn will be charged for the state the flat has been left in.

Once hearing this, he agrees and takes charge to clean it all up. However, Bobby soon arrived and was instantly suspicious as to why Roy had cleaned the place.
He then headed over to see Carla Connor (Alison King) to tell her how he thought Roy might be involved in Lauren’s disappearance. And in a huge twist, soap spoilers reveal that next week Roy gets arrested after police claim Lauren has been murdered.
Blood is found at her flat, and Roy’s suspicious behaviour leads to him being arrested for her murder. Now, actor David has teased that things are going to “get worse” for the much-loved character.
When news of Roy’s arrest and supposed involvement in Lauren’s murder gets out, he becomes the target of online trolls. Carla then shows Roy the vile comments, believing that he needs to know what’s being said.
What’s more, later on in the week, when Roy is questioned for the second time by the cops about Lauren, he candidly admits that she once propositioned him. When asked if his truthfulness could backfire on him, David said: “Obviously this is the issue but his truthfulness is something I’ve always tried to establish.

“This is because he cannot cope with grey areas or with subterfuge, his brain wouldn’t be able to cope. So it’s easier if it’s better for him to know what he feels is right and wrong.”
David then noted how Roy is “sort of on the ropes” with the whole situation. He explained: “He continues to do what he thinks is the right thing, he can’t do any other.
“Now that’s the problem. If he could, I think he would. That’s what everyone around him is telling him to do, to behave like others, be more what other people would consider ‘normal’ but he’s not like that. He can’t be like that.” Teasing that things could be taking a dramatic turn for Roy, he quipped: “Otherwise he wouldn’t be in this situation and it is only going to get worse.”
