Former Page 3 model Angela Jay has sadly died at the age of 71 following a battle with cancer.
Her husband Ken described her as the “perfect girl next door”. He told The Sun she was a “a miner’s daughter from the northern pits who dared to dream.”
Angela was known for her appearances on Page 3 and was a regular throughout the 1980s. Ken spoke out about her passing on Sunday 5 May and announced that she sadly died while in hospital in Eastbourne in east Sussex.

The model was morn in Sunderland and her beauty caught the attention of a modelling agency when she was living in Manchester. Ken said: “She realised that she couldn’t stay there and become the wife of a miner. Straight away she was such a natural, so fresh-faced. A lot of the models spend two hours getting ready – Angela was just ready to go.”

Ken recalled the first time he saw Angela and said she was wearing a simple outfit, “a pair of jeans and. a scruffy t-shirt,” but he thought she “looked just as beautiful as anyone” and “knew she was the one for him”.
Throughout her career, Angela was also known for her work with lingerie brand Gossard and for working with boxer Henry Cooper for Brut Aftershave adverts.
Page 3 was a feature introduced by The Sun back in 1970 and featured female glamour models. Many publications followed suit and famous Page 3 models include Katie Prices, Maria Whittaker, Debee Ashby and Samantha Fox.
Back in March, it was reported that former Page 3 star Fox was charged with a public order offence and being drunk on a plane. It has been said that she was on a flight to Germany back in January when the incident occurred.
The Mirror reported: “All passengers were forced to abandon the flight at the time as take-off was delayed meaning the flight wouldn’t be able to land in time for strict air travel laws in Germany. All the other passengers were put up in a hotel and had moved to flights the following day, while Sam reportedly spent the night in a cell instead.”

The publication continued: “Now the Metropolitan Police have confirmed she has been charged with a public order offence following her arrest two months ago. The singer is now scheduled to appear at Uxbridge magistrates court, West London, later this month.”
