Helen Flanagan has opened up after her “scary” episode of psychosis, saying she was seeing things and felt like she was “in danger”.
The Coronation Street beauty previously told how she became unwell after having a bad reaction to ADHD medication that she was using after splitting from her partner Scott Sinclair in 2022. Sharing new details of the frightening experience with the Mirror, she explained she had been deeply affected by the end of her 13-year relationship with Scott, the father of her three children.
At the time she “shut off” her emotions and threw herself into work. But when Christmas Day came and her children – daughters Matilda, eight, and Delilah, five, and three-year-old son Charlie – spent it with her ex, it hit her hard.

“I don’t see it as a break-up, I see it as a divorce,” Helen said of the end of her relationship with footballer Scott. “We were together 13 years.

“But instead of processing it all, I threw myself into work and shut off my emotions. I just went into survival mode. Then it all came to the surface earlier this year and I was mentally and physically breaking down.”
Helen, 33, started using medication for Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in a bid to help herself cope. But things went wrong when she had an awful reaction.

“It was really sad and very scary,” she shared of her psychotic episode. “I was seeing things and I felt like I was in danger all the time.”
Luckily, Helen’s nanny reached out to her parents so that the actress could get help. She took a break from work, saying she was “heartbroken” to have to pull out of a theatre tour of Cluedo 2 but that it had to be done so that she could concentrate on healing.

The Rosie Webster actress is now co-parenting with Scott and she has even dipped a toe back into the dating pool. She shared that on one occasion she and her ex actually came across each other on a dating app and were able to have a laugh about it “which shows how far we’ve come”.
Helen and Scott had been together since 2009. The footy ace popped the question during a trip to Disneyland Paris in 2018 but they never made it down the aisle.
