Movie lovers are in for a treat, as the filming for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is well and truly underway.
American actress Renée Zellweger is back for the fourth part of the much-loved film franchise. Playing the leading role of awkward yet adorable Bridget Jones, viewers will finally get to see the next chapter of her life.
In the last film, Bridget Jones’s Baby, Bridget discovered she was pregnant with her first child and Mark Darcy was the father. But in the new flick, which is set to be released in 2025, Bridget is a mother of two.

In new on-set snaps, actress Renée is seen embodying her character by walking her two children to school. Set in London, Bridget’s two kids wore burgundy coloured uniforms.
Wearing a cream-coloured jacket and blue jeans with trainers, Renée looked like the typical school mum on the run. Tying her blonde locks into a messy ponytail, the actress was seen looking at her two on-screen children lovingly as they seemingly entered into the school premises.
Another shot shows Bridget in a short jeans skirt. Taking her children to school again, the actress showed off her pins in a pair of black sheer tights.
In another snap, Renée’s character Bridget was seen approaching what could be her children’s teacher. Played by British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, he will also be Bridget’s love interest in the film.
Looking smart, Chiwetel’s character wore black trousers and a navy blue jacket. In another photo, he could be seen wearing a twill wool blazer in brown.
It has been previously revealed that Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy would bring back a number of familiar faces. This includes Hugh Grant’s infamous character Daniel Cleaver.
In addition to this, other cast members will also be making a comeback. This includes the return of Sarah Solemani, Sally Phillips, Shirley Henderson and James Callis as Bridget’s friends Miranda, Sharon, Jude and Tom.
Previously confirmed actress Emma Thompson will be back as Doctor Rawlings. As well as Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones who play Bridget’s parents Colin and Pamela.
But unfortunately, the story is set to take a dark turn. Bridget’s husband Mark, played by the incredible Colin Firth will not be majorly involved in the film. This is because his character has been sadly killed off.
In the fourth film, viewers will see how Bridget will navigate life as a single mum with two children. Mad About the Boy is based on Helen Fielding’s 2013 book of the same name.
Providing more insight into the film and why Mark is missing, actor Hugh Grant said: “It’s partly based on Helen Fielding’s experiences of bringing up two children by herself after her husband died. And so Bridget is bringing up two kids and wondering whether she should ever go back to dating.”
