Gavin and Stacey fans go wild as cast spotted filming Christmas special in Barry

Gavin and Stacey stars have been drumming up excitement around the new series.

Filming is set to kick off in the coming weeks after it was announced arlier this year that the beloved BBC comedy would be returning for a final Christmas special.

Ruth Jones, the show’s lead star and co-creator, has been spotted in Barry Island, the primary filming location for the series. The 57 year old comedy legend, known for her roles in shows like Fat Friends and Little Britain, took a moment to pose for a photo with members of the 11th Barry Sea Scout Group.

The group shared the snap on their Facebook page, captioning it: “Look who we met after hiking with the Beavers”. Jones was later seen enjoying a Sunday lunch at The Knap’s Mr Villa’s Fish and Chip restaurant.

Another original cast member, Russell Tovey, was also recently spotted in Wales. Tovey, who played one of Gavin’s mates in the first series, posted pictures of his dog walk and a visit to Canton’s Hard Lines cafe.

Known for his roles in Sherlock and Being Human, Tovey is believed to be filming The War Between the Land and the Sea, a Doctor Who spin-off which involves military organisation UNIT responding to a “fearsome and ancient species emerging from the ocean” and “the land and sea wage war.”, reports Wales Online.

Gavin and Stacey is set to return for one final episode

Gavin and Stacey last graced our screens on Christmas Day, 2019. The festive special concluded with a cliffhanger as Nessa Jenkins, played by Ruth Jones, popped the question to Smithy, portrayed by James Corden.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the upcoming special to find out Smithy’s response.

Most of the beloved cast are confirmed to return for what has been announced as the final episode of Gavin and Stacey. The show, which first aired in 2007, has amassed a dedicated fanbase over the years.
