Charli XCX sent shockwaves with her hit album Brat. Now, she’s gearing up to star in the forthcoming film Erupcja, which was discreetly filmed during the peak of ‘Brat Summer.’
According to Variety, the singer will appear alongside playwright and actor Jeremy O. Harris (Emily in Paris), Lena Gora (Roving Woman), and Will Madden (Jethica), with filmmaker Pete Ohs directing.
Erupcja, meaning ‘eruption,’ revolves around the tumultuous relationship between a foreign woman named Bethany (Charli) visiting her unnamed friend in Warsaw, Poland. The film has been described as a ‘city movie,’ where the Polish capital plays a central role.
Although the project was kept under wraps, fans had caught wind of Charli’s presence in Warsaw in August, speculating that she was working on something new, reports the Mirror.

The Twitter account FilmUpdates spilled the beans, posting: “Charli XCX has co-written a film with Jeremy O. Harris that is currently in production in Poland. She will also star in the film, directed by Pete Ohs.”
In an interview with Variety, Harris shared that filming was challenging due to fans constantly recognizing Charli in public. He recounted a night when they were filming in a nightclub: “It was almost impossible to shoot, which was insane. Every single person in the club was like, ‘Oh my god, Charli XCX is here to do a secret performance.’ And it was like, ‘She is, but not the one you think.’ We were shooting the same week Obama put her on his playlist as well, which is hilarious.”

Rumour mills can rest now, as fans are absolutely buzzin’ over official confirmations flying around social media. An ecstatic X user couldn’t contain their glee: “Oh my god it’s real? ? ? ” While another fan was all praise for co-writer Harris, tweeting: “With Jeremy O. Harris writing you know it’s gonna be awesome. Can’t wait.”
Jeremy isn’t exactly a fresh face in the entertainment industry. He’s got some serious chops with TV stints on Netflix’s hit series Emily in Paris and causing quite the stir in theatres with his penmanship for Slave Play, which divided West End viewer this summer.
Charli keeps stacking her plate with juicy roles she’s snagged parts in an edgy R-rated redo of the classic 1978 scare fest Faces of Death, set to send shivers down with Olivia Wilde in the thriller I Want Your Sex, plus diving into a graphic novel fantasy world in 100 Nights of Hero with Emma Corrin. To top off, Benito Skinner has let slip that Charli’s set to light up Amazon Prime with a cheeky cameo in uni comedy, Overcompensating.
Erupcja’s release date? Still shrouded in mystery, folks.
