Ant McPartlin received a brutal injury on the Britain’s Got Talent set.

One half of the TV duo Ant and Dec got more than he bargained for when a coconut bashing stunt went awry during Britain’s Got Talent auditions in 2022. The popular ITV presenter found himself needing first aid after a wacky interaction with an act involving dozens of coconuts left him with a cut on his forehead.

Initially attempting to break a coconut with his fist, Ant quickly learned the hard way, exclaiming: “Do not punch coconuts kids, it really hurts. I think I nearly broke my knuckle.”

He then butted one with his head and quipped: “Why did you say forehead? Because I was bound to try.” It wasn’t until Dec pointed it out that Ant realised he was bleeding.

Keeping spirits high, Ant laughed it off to someone off-camera: “How irresponsible are you?” Even with a bleeding head, his sense of humour shone through as medics advised him on wound care, leading him to comment: “This is very extreme for a little tap on the forehead.”

Not one to give up, Ant was back on stage trying to conquer the coconuts in no time, reports the Express.

Audiences are ready for more antics as Britain’s Got Talent comes back in 2025 for its 18th series with judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and new addition, Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli. As always, Ant and Dec will be bringing their charm as hosts, with internet celeb KSI featuring as a guest judge.

Simon Cowell has opened up about a terrifying brush with death on the set of the latest Britain’s Got Talent series, where he found himself lying next to watermelons as a contestant took to them with a sledgehammer. The 65 year old entertainment mogul shared: “It’s that feeling when you kind of think somebody doesn’t want you on the show any more. It was that. It was the closest, genuinely, where I’m thinking, ‘they actually want to kill me’.”

He continued, visibly shaken by the memory, “And I swear to God, that’s how I felt because this guy got really nervous and he’d slipped and was shaking as he was smashing these watermelons.”

Thankfully, the show’s health and safety team intervened just in time: “The health and safety guys, normally quite annoying, actually stopped him. Thank god, they saved my life.”
