The socialite known as Catwoman died at the age of 84 on New Year’s Eve following a battle with phlebitis – just days after her death, her partner Lloyd Klein revealed she had left him a fortune
Swiss-born socialite known Jocelyn Wildenstein left her partner a staggering fortune after her death. The 84-year-old known as Catwoman due to her love of plastic surgery passed away on New Year’s Eve. Her partner Lloyd Klein revealed that she had been suffering from phlebitis and died peacefully in her sleep.
Phlebitis is an inflammation which causes a blood clot to form in a vein, often in a person’s leg. Known for her love of cosmetic surgery, Jocelyn declared herself bankrupt in 2018, claiming she had no money in her accounts.
Three years later, her three apartments in Trump Tower were repossessed. In 2023, she revealed that she was still struggling financially.
However, following her death, Lloyd has revealed that Jocelyn actually left him a whopping $100million in her will. He received a phone call on the day of Jocelyn’s funeral informing him that he was the beneficiary of a life policy she had taken out.
He said: “It’s over $100million dollars, my heart was beating. I was like, I’m not surprised, I sent her [Jocelyne] a big blessing.”
He told The Sun: “She did it right, she’s a lady. Jocelyne was secretive, she was mysterious.”
But Lloyd’s lawyers informed him that he would need to make a major change to his life due to his new fortune.
“My life has changed. I have one or two people walking behind me now,” he said. However, he claims that not a single penny was left to Jocelyn’s two children, Alec Jr and Diane, from her previous marriage to Alec Wildenstein.
Reportedly, after their divorce in 1999, she bagged a cool $2.5 billion settlement with an extra $100 million landing in her bank account yearly. Lloyd shared details of the tragic evening shortly after Jocelyn passed away, saying: “We had a nice happy hour the same night and we were getting ready for the new year, and we took a little nap just to look good before getting dressed. Because of her phlebitis, the legs were very, very swollen, and the blood was blocked, and there was no oxygen in the brain.”
He continued, describing the heart-wrenching moment: “And we were having a nap and when I wake up, I said, ‘Jocelyn, we have to wake up, we have to get dressed,’ and she was cold and she was dead. It’s very sad. It’s extremely sad. It’s extremely sad to lay down with your other half that I know for 21 years and waiting to celebrate New Year’s Eve and to find her cold.”
In a twist of fate, Jocelyn and her grandmother, both plagued by phlebitis, faced the cruel irony of health misfortunes. Her partner Lloyd had been vocal about her “perfect” health only moments before she met her untimely end.
The lovebirds were lost in the enchantment of Paris when reality delivered a harsh blow. Lloyd was left reeling from shock, as she seemed the picture of vitality and happiness during their romantic getaway, having recently graced the TV screens where Lloyd remarked how “extremely beautiful” she looked.
The sorrowful news of her death filtered through Paris Match, painting an image of her final days in a regal Parisian palace. A statement released regarding her passing stated: “Her partner Lloyd Klein is saddened to announce the death of Jocelyn Wildensetein in Paris.”
Recent glimpses of the couple highlighted their elegant exit from The Ritz in Paris just two weeks before the tragedy, with Jocelyn donning a snug black zip-up turtleneck paired with a luxurious brown fur jacket.
Despite whispers and speculation, Jocelyn was believed to have undergone extensive cosmetic surgery, investing millions to achieve her distinct high cheekbones and ‘cat-eyes’, drawing comparisons to feline features, allegations she steadfastly denied.
