Michelle Keegan and husband Mark Wright have just welcomed their first child together, but the celeb couple have been married for 10 years and first met in 2012
Actress Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright have been married for 10 years.
The famous couple, who wed in 2015, have just welcomed their first child together – daughter Palma Elizabeth. They took to Instagram with an adorable first snap of their newborn, a black and white photo that showed Michelle and Mark holding hands with the baby.
The caption for the snap read: “Together we have a new love to share… Our little girl [white heart emoji]. Palma Elizabeth Wright. 06.03.25”. The couple announced their pregnancy back in December, with a dreamy snap of Michelle, 37, holding her baby bump on the beach.
“2025 is going to be a special one for us… [baby emoji. love heart emoji],” read the caption of the snap, which saw TOWIE star Mark, 38, looking on lovingly at the Brassic and Corrie star.
Before his love story with Michelle began, Mark had a well-publicised, on-and-off relationship with Lauren Goodger before they split in 2012. Prior to dating Mark, Michelle had a high profile relationship with The Wanted star Max George, who is now dating EastEnders star Maisie Smith.
Michelle reportedly crossed paths with Mark in Dubai in 2012, but they kept their romance private until they stepped out as a couple at the Soap Awards in 2013. They tied the knot on 24 May 2015 and the lavish ceremony took place in St Mary’s Church in Bury St Edmunds.
The couple went all out for their big day, ordering 20 towering trees, each 12 feet high, to adorn the aisle, and there were flowers aplenty. Guests were treated to a rendition of the iconic Patrick Swayze-Jennifer Grey dance routine from Dirty Dancing, complete with the famous lift, all set to the hit song (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.
After the wedding, the couple jetted off to Dubai for their honeymoon, where they stayed in an incredible underwater suite at the exclusive Atlantis, The Palm Hotel. The beachside resort was special as it’s where the Corrie star first crossed paths with Mark in 2012.
In 2019, the British power couple bought their dream home, a huge Essex mansion reportedly valued around £3.5 million. They made huge renovations to the property over the course of three years before they finally moved in in 2022.
They fans updated on the home through their joint home renovation Instagram account, @wrightyhome.ir. Here, they post photos of the luxurious property, which features an outdoor swimming pool, gym, sauna and a balcony.
Outside, you’ll also find a stunning pergola. Their chic outdoor area, built on tiled flooring, boasts a bar, kitchen, dining space, and outdoor heating – the summery setup which is surrounded by glass windows even features a pizza oven.
Michelle opened up about being blown away by the renovation work they’d done to the home after filming in Australia. She told The Observer: “I was filming in Australia and hadn’t seen the house for months. And when I walked in, Mark had lit all the candles and… I couldn’t speak for five minutes. He was like, ‘What do you think?’ I couldn’t find the words to say how I felt, because I was so overwhelmed. I just burst out crying.”
The couple’s journey to parenthood has often sparked speculation, with lots of people asking Michelle when she was going to be a mum. In 2020, Michelle told Women’s Health: “I get asked about children whereas Mark wouldn’t, for example,” and added, “Why haven’t I had a child? When am I going to have a child?’ I don’t know what they want me to say. I don’t know what the right or wrong answer is.”
However, she revealed that those close to her have stopped prying, adding “Not any more! People don’t mean any harm by it, but they know what the answer’s going to be.”
She admitted the pressure was getting to her as she told The Mirror: “It’s horrible. People don’t know if we’re trying. They don’t know the background of what’s happening. In this day and age, you shouldn’t be asking questions like that. I’m asked purely because I’m a woman. But I’m immune to it now – it’s like a reaction, and as soon as I hear it I brush it off as it’s no one else’s business.”
Michelle previously discussed managing her long-distance relationship with Mark, admitting on The Jonathan Ross Show: “Thank God for FaceTime and things like that. You’re on a countdown the whole time to just get home.”
She explained quality time was key to a happy relationship. During a chat on the Happy Place podcast with Fearne Cotton, the actress said: “It’s just having and finding that time for each other. I think that’s the main key, but also letting us have our freedom to do what we wanna do career-wise,” reflecting on the balance they maintain through their busy schedules.
Last year, the couple unveiled their sportswear brand, Aytee7, and partnered with online retailer, Very. In March, Mark shared the exciting news, saying: “Absolutely BUZZING with this. Exciting news, we’ve collaborated with @veryuk on the new exclusive @aytee7 collection. Focusing on true performance sportswear, check it out and let me know what you think! ” Michelle had already established a successful partnership with Very, with multiple collections under her belt.
