EXCLUSIVE: Celebrity Big Brother winner David Potts has opened up about his weight loss journey after admitting he’s “nowhere near where he wants to be yet”
David Potts, the winner of last year’s Celebrity Big Brother, has revealed he has been struggling with his weight loss journey as it’s “not for the faint-hearted”.
The Ibiza Weekender star, 31, opened up about his fitness journey, in collaboration with Casino.org, and said: “I lost like four stone before I went into CBB, and then I’m not joking, I weighed myself recently and I’ve put five back on.
“So, I’m nowhere near where I want to be, it’s just very hard to get into a routine when I’m working away a lot. It’s just so hard to lose weight. It’s not for the faint-hearted trying to lose weight.
“I’ve looked into other methods of losing weight, but I know I can do it naturally. Definitely no offense to anyone who wants to do it any other way, because I know how hard it is.
“But I just think I’m a bit of a wimp and I’m a bit scared, so that’s why I wouldn’t want to do it any other way, but I’ve definitely looked into it and done my research on stuff, and it’s not something I’d turn my nose up at.”
Daily Star also asked him about any embarrassing moments he’s had since fame – and he shared a hilarious blunder with us.
He laughed: “Oh god. It’s funny now when I think about it, but at the time? Absolutely not.
“So, I was on tour with an adult panto version of The Little Mermaid, traveling across the UK.
“During my song, I was rapping—doing a Nicki Minaj number, full choreography, throwing my arms around—and mid-performance, my shoulder fully dislocated.
“Just popped right out! I was still on stage, the audience staring at me, but the adrenaline kicked in, so I just kept going. I carried on rapping like nothing had happened.”
David continued: “As soon as the song finished, I legged it off stage—my mic was still on—and I was screaming, “My shoulder’s dislocated! My shoulder’s dislocated!”
“It was so dramatic. A bunch of the Drag Race queens from the US were there, and Detox had to jump on stage and be like, ‘Sooo, David’s just popped his shoulder out, so he’s off to the ER.’
“Meanwhile, I’m backstage screaming at the crew to get me to the hospital.
“So there I was, in full King Triton costume, sitting in A&E, waiting to get my shoulder popped back in. I ended up needing surgery, so fingers crossed it never happens again. But honestly, looking back? Hilarious. At the time? Absolute nightmare.”
