OLIVIA Rodrigo won’t be offended if fans swear at Glastonbury Festival this weekend, because she’s partial to potty UK mouths.

From California to Glasto it’s been an astonishing rise for the star behind record breaking hits and multiple awards including becoming the youngest artist to receive a BRIT Billion Award from the BPI.

But that’s not the reason why ‘Liv is enamoured by the UK.

“I really like how British people swear a lot more than Americans,” she laughed “I feel like there is a lot of loving name calling, I really like that and wish we would adapt that in America.”

Olivia’s Guts World tour has visited six continents, making her the highest-grossing artist born in the 21st century with ticket sales of over £140 million.

But topping the Glasto bill Sunday aged just 22, along with a headline date at BST Hyde Park in London tomorrow (friday), is an extra special achievement.

“Headlining Glasto has been one of my biggest dreams for so long. I love the UK and I am so thankful they wanted to have me at this festival,” said Olivia when landing the gig. “I plan on playing many UK shows in my life.”

Liv started her pop career young: “I’ve been writing songs since I was five years old. Just gibberish, stuff about getting lost in the grocery store. The first one I finessed was called Naive Girl and I put it on my Instagram.”

Aged 13 Olivia joined the Disney orbit first on Bizaardvark and then High School Musical: The Series.

She was asked to contribute to the soundtrack of her Disney show and within 12 months the young actress had signed a recording contract with Interscope, following in her idol Taylor Swift’s footsteps.

Then in 2021 Olivia took the world by storm with debut single, Drivers License which became the most streamed song in the world.

Music she says is her “emotional safety valve” and few of her songs express that better than Drivers License; a song about getting your license at the same time as losing the love of your life.

“I wrote the bulk of it in my living room and on my phone. I remember writing it and feeling like it actually was a page ripped out of my diary because it was so intimate and vulnerable.”

Drivers License topped the charts all over the world, going four times platinum and earning Olivia celebrity admirers ranging from Beyonce to Billie Eilish.

Olivia’s two albums Sour and Guts have connected with millions around the world and after Glasto Olivia will get to work on her third chapter.

She spilled: “As I just grow as a person, and I learn more about music, and I have different perspectives, it’s impossible for that not to be reflected in your songwriting. Hopefully by the time I put out my next album, it’ll feel more mature and like a different take on things. I think that’s what’s so fun about writing songs, is you get to keep pushing yourself and learning and growing and expanding.”

Glasto will be a career defining moment but Liv is trying to treat it like every other gig: “I am very superstitious pre-show to a degree where I am like ‘wow this is getting bad’ I have to do the exact same move, when I exit my dressing room I put my hands up and do a deep breath before I walk out and if I don’t do it I am like ‘its gonna be a bad show’.”

No fear of that, Olivia’s British sound crew have already predicted she will smash it.

“My in-ear tech, the guy who does my audio, he tells me this British phrase he’s like, ‘it’’s gonna be a piece of p*ss olivia, a p*ss of piece’ and so before every show we say ‘piece of p*ss’ and if I don’t say ’piece of p*ss’ I am convinced it’s gonna be a terrible show.”
