The Hot Girl Summer kicks off the virtual graduation event with a medley of her smash hits, with latter performances by Latin boyband CNCO and K-pop group BTS.
    Jun 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – YouTube’s Dear Class of 2020 was a hot one, thanks to Megan Thee Stallion. The raptress joined a number of celebrities congratulating this year’s graduates in the online graduation event hosted by the video-sharing platform on Sunday, June 7.
Kicking off the show, the raptress delivered a sizzling medley of her smash hits, starting with “Big Ole Freak”. She lounged poolside in a neon orange bikini before busting some sexy moves as she moved around her pool.
She continued her set with “Hot Girl Summer”, during which she took viewers to her upper lawn. She was joined by two backup dancers who performed choreographed dance on the balcony. She used a lollipop as a prop as she began to spit the lyrics of “Captain Hook”, before going inside to perform “Cash S**t”.
She later changed into a black ensemble that consisted of hot pants and a matching crop-top adorned with glitzy crystals. Showing her flexibility, she split on the couch before showing some choreographed moves with the two dancers.
The set, of course, would not be complete without a performance of her latest hit “Savage” (Remix), during which she moved to her kitchen. She continued to show a little more twerking and told the camera as her music wrapped, “Congratulations to the class of 2020! Have a hot girl summer!”
She also took to Instagram to congratulate the class of 2020, writing, “In this incredibly difficult time, I want to honor the Class of 2020 who will go on to create positive changes in the world. I’m humbled to be able to celebrate graduates today.”

  • Artist of the Week: Gunna

The ‘Drip Harder’ rapper earns his first No. 1 album on Billboard Hot 200 while introducing his fans to his new persona ‘Wunna’ with the newly-released second studio album.
    Jun 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Gunna is a standout among new young rappers from Atlanta’s hip-hop scene. The 26-year-old rapper carved his path to success through a series of “Drip” mixtapes that he capped off with a debut album “Drip or Drown 2” which peaked at No. 3 on Billboard Hot 200 in 2019.
After successfully shaping up his “Drip” persona, he was keen to introduce his fans to the other side of him that many people didn’t really know. With his sophomore set “Wunna”, he wanted his loyal devotees to meet the “Wealthy Unapologetic N**ga Naturally Authentic.”
He did half of his second studio album in Jamaica while exploring the different scenery. “Gunna is more chill, just the drip god. I don’t really do too much. You really just see me doing more just clothes and music. Wunna, I feel he’s more spontaneous,” he explained in an interview.
Powered with 18 brand new rap tracks that feature the likes of Young Thug, Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, and Travis Scott (II), the album chronicled Gunna’s fast-paced life in the past few years from meeting “Argentina” girls in Cali, taking a hot air balloon to enjoy the exotic landscape of Jamaica, dressing up to high-fashion events, stacking up money in his bank account, to doing shows all over the world.
But it’s not just having fun for the rapper. He also talked about “life and things that are deeper.” In one song dedicated to the late Nipsey Hussle, he reflected on his journey to stardom. From “having no cash for gas, stove or heat,” he’s climbing out of poverty to be one of the prominent stars in the rap scene.
The album debuted at the top spot on Billboard Hot 200 with a total of 111,000 album-equivalent units which mostly attributed to the 144 million on-demand streams. Across the pond, it entered the U.K. Albums chart at No. 5, giving the rap star his first top ten album in the country.
Gunna, real name Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, also landed 13 songs on Billboard Hot 100 chart, led by “Dollaz on My Head”. The song entered the singles chart at No. 38, marking his eighth top 40 hit.
Despite all those feats, he was not in a celebratory mood. “It’s hard celebrating a #1 album when the world is Hurting,” he tweeted, seemingly referring to his fellow African-American brothers and sisters marching for Black Lives Matter to fight racial injustice across the country.

AceShowbiz – The Texas Country Music Hall of Fame Festival will be a livestream only event this year 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis.
The show, slated for August 7, will include performances from contestants from the John Ritter Showcase Contest, the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame Band, past ambassadors, and more acts due to be announced soon.
However, President and CEO Tommie Ritter Smith confirmed the ceremony will go ahead without an audience due to the Covid-19 pandemic, reported ABC affiliate KTBS.
“Fighting Covid-19 is an unprecedented challenge and the safety and well being of our fans, bands and crew and all of the volunteers who help pull off our shows should always be the top priority,” he said. “Health organisations and governments around the world have strongly discouraged large public gatherings for an undetermined period of time.”
“With many events throughout the world already cancelled, we have made the decision to change our 2020 John Ritter Tribute Showcase and Texas Country Music Hall of Fame Induction Show to a livestream concert for all to enjoy,” Smith said.

  • Tool Offers Full Refunds After Calling Off North American Tour

    Instagram

Maynard James Keenan and his rocker bandmates decide to scrap their North American tour instead of rescheduling it to help struggling fans get full refunds.
    Jun 8, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rockers Tool has cancelled their 2020 North American tour altogether in a bid to help struggling fans secure refunds.
The band, comprised of lead singer Maynard James Keenan, Danny Carey, Adam Jones, and Justin Chancellor, was due to hit the road again this autumn, but heartbreaking messages from followers have convinced the group to formally scrap upcoming concerts, instead of just postpone them.
“At the same time that we were working to reschedule this tour, we read your messages. Messages of job losses, illness, emotional and financial pain,” Tool wrote in a statement posted to Instagram on Friday, June 5, 2020.
“We could continue to postpone or reschedule dates for some time into 2021 but ethically, we do not think this is the right course of action. In our opinion, tying up our fans’ money for months, if not a full year, is unfair. With that in mind, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the tour so we can help support the people who have supported us for years.”
The Grammy-winning rockers also faced countless issues with booking shows due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“As so many music lovers have come to realize over the last several weeks, there is no playbook that artists, promoters and venues can pull from in these unprecedented times,” the statement read. “When we played what would be our final show of 2020, March 11 at Portland’s Moda Center, we believed we would be back on the road sometime this Fall. As we worked towards that goal we’ve come to realize that there is absolutely no certainty in re-scheduling dates for this Fall or 2021. State and local ordinances vary widely and no one can predict when high capacity events will safely return.”
They went on to assure fans they’ll play concerts in the future again, “Please know, we want nothing more than to return to the road, to play these songs for you and to celebrate our shared recovery. When the time is right, we will do just that.”
Tool has promised a full refund to all fans who have already purchased tickets for the cancelled shows.

  • Kane Brown Debuts Inspiring Single 'Worldwide Beautiful' Amid BLM Protests

Kane Brown has decided to release his new song early in hopes to ‘bring people together’ amid the nationwide protests against racial injustice in the United States.
    Jun 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Kane Brown brought forward the release of his new single “Worldwide Beautiful” to “bring people together” amid ongoing protests against racial injustice worldwide.
The country music star took to Instagram to reveal he had been holding on to the song for a year, but decided to release it early in a bid to unite people during the continued unrest. “I’m hoping it will bring us together during this time and proceeds are being funded to the boys and girls club. I love you guys,” he wrote.
The song, which was written by the 26-year-old along with Shy Carter, Ryan Hurd, and Jordan Schmidt, urges fans to come together and celebrate life, with lyrics including, “White churches, black churches/ Different people, same hearses/ It’s kinda hard to fight with each other/ Laying down in the ground, six under.”
“At every show I see my people/ They ain’t the same, but they’re all equal/ One love, one God, one family,” the star sings.

Earlier this week, Brown weighed in on the killing of African-American man George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis cops, lending his support to the Black Lives Matter movement.
“I honestly think it’s ignorant as hell to kill a human being in cold blood without them doing anything especially handcuffed,” he wrote on Twitter.
“If everyone was seen as people, if everyone was treated the same, if everyone was charged with the same sentence, this s**t wouldn’t be happening.”

  • Lewis Capaldi Writes Love Letter to New Girlfriend in Next Album

    Instagram

The ‘Someone You Loved’ singer reportedly addresses his relationship and has one song dedicated to girlfriend Catherine Halliday in his upcoming studio album.
    Jun 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lewis Capaldi’s relationship with student Catherine Halliday is going so well that he’s reportedly penned a song about their romance for his upcoming album.
The Scottish singer was first linked to the redhead back in February 2020 and confirmed the fledgling relationship during a Zoom Q&A with fans last month. And now Lewis is preparing to reveal even more about his personal life after writing a tune about Catherine for his new record. According to Britain’s The Sun newspaper, the 23-year-old played the song for bosses at his record label last month.
“Lewis’s tracks are mostly about love again but this time finding it, not losing it,” a source told the publication. “He’s smitten with Catherine and although it’s early days, she has a nod on one of the tracks he has written. Lewis mentions her hair and it’s really quite special. She’s made him realise how to be happy again.”
“Lewis jokes a lot but as a songwriter he’s a huge talent. The songs are catchy and upbeat. It’s the same brilliant vocals and emotional lyrics but this time it’s got a lighter feel to it. Catherine was obviously made up there is a nod to her. She has something very special with Lewis.”
Lewis first spoke about his new romance during the Zoom chat when he was asked if he prefers being in a relationship or single.
“I’m in a relationship so if I said the other one, my girlfriend would kill me,” he laughed at the time. “I’ve never told anybody I’m in a relationship, so there you go. She’s got red hair, she’s got quite a posh voice. And that’s that, that’s all you’re getting.”
The “Someone You Loved” star previously dated Paige Turley, who was crowned the winner of the last series of Britain’s “Love Island” alongside boyfriend Finn Tapp.

  • Leigh-Anne Pinnock Told to 'Work Ten Times Harder' in Little Mix Because She's Black

    Instagram

The newly-engaged singer shares her experience with racism as she recalls her early days in Little Mix when she was warned she’s had to work harder because she’s not white.
    Jun 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Leigh-Anne Pinnock was warned she’d have to “work ten times harder” because she’s Black on the set of Little Mix’s first-ever music video shoot.
The 28-year-old chart-topping star shared an emotional video on Instagram in which she described the inequality she has experienced despite her fame.
Recalling a time when the group first appeared on the music scene after winning “The X Factor U.K.” in 2011, the singer said she was told by a music video director that she would endure more struggles than the rest of the group. Something she came to realise was true.
“There comes a point in every black human’s life, no matter how much money you have or what you have achieved, you realise racism does not exclude you,” she shared. “Nine years ago, after joining Little Mix, I had the biggest awakening of my life. When we were filming Wings, we worked with Frank Gatson. He said to me, ‘You are the black girl, you have to work ten times harder.’ ”
“Later on, what Frank Gatson said made sense. I learned that being in the biggest girl band in the world came with its flaws and consequences.”
The tearful star continued, “My reality was feeling lonely while touring predominantly white countries. I sing to fans who don’t see me or hear me or cheer me on.”
Leigh-Anne also shared that she “constantly” feels like the “least favoured” at fan signings and that her “talent alone isn’t enough.”
“My reality is all the times I felt invisible within my group. Part of me is fully aware that my experience would have been ever harder to cope with had I been dark-skinned,” the “Black Magic” star concluded. “Our reality is no matter how far you think you’ve come, racism exists. So let’s all continue to speak up on racism and keep this movement going. Thank you.”
