Jessie Ware Voices Worry About 'Shell Life for Women' in the Music Industry

    Glamour UK

Sharing her thought on sexism in the music world, the ‘Say You Love Me’ hitmaker recalls being told she was being really emotional during a meeting when she was not.
    May 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jessie Ware has spoken out against sexism in the music industry, insisting standards are different for men and women.
The singer, 35, discussed the issue in a new interview with Glamour U.K. magazine, admitting she fears there’s a “shelf life” for women in the business.
“They don’t ask men how they’re going to tour with their children, do they?” the mother of two mused. “But you get used to it, you take it with a pinch of salt, and it’s also something that I struggled to work out.”
She continued, “I once got told that I was being really emotional (in a meeting), and I was being really not-emotional, and I wonder whether they would have said that to a bloke. I didn’t rise to it, and I was very calm. But you know, it happens.”
“I definitely think there’s more of a shelf life for women,” the “Spotlight” star added. “I don’t want to sound negative because actually I’m able to make the music I want to make, but I’m madly thought of as relatively old and I’m 35!”
The “Say You Love Me” hitmaker will appear alongside Ellie Goulding as part of the publication’s upcoming Lockdown Live festival, which also features cook-alongs, fitness sessions and inspiring panel talks from stars including actress/model Sabrina Elba, chef Gizzi Erskine and stylist Irene Agbontaen.

The event takes place on 22 May, with more information available here https://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/article/glamour-lockdown-live-2020.

6ix9ine Blasts Billboard for Allegedly Manipulating Hot 100 Chart

    Instagram

The Brooklyn rapper has taken to his Instagram account to share a video of him pointing proofs that Billboard is playing ‘favorites’ and getting ‘paid for No. 1s.’
    May 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – 6ix9ine a.k.a. Tekashi69 is calling out Billboard. The “Gooba” hitmaker accuses Billboard for purposedly cheating him out of Hot 100 chart by manipulating it as his new single fails to nab the No. 1 spot.
On Friday, May 15, the Brooklyn rapper took to his Instagram account to share a video of him pointing proofs that Billboard was playing “favorites.” In the clip, he showed an email that was purportedly sent to major record labels on Thursday.
The email had Doja Cat’s “Say So” at No. 1, while his single “Gooba” followed it up at No. 2. Meanwhile, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” was at No. 3, and Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce Knowles’ “Savage” was at No. 4. Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber’s latest collaboration “Stuck With U” concluded the top five.
Tekashi later claimed that Billboard sent another email “last second” on Thursday night. The new email had “Stuck With U” ascending from No. 5 to No. 1 after gaining 60,000 units “out of nowhere.” He said in the video, “[Grande and Bieber] went from being fifth place to first place out of nowhere. So ‘Gooba’ never jumps to No. 1, but Ariana jumps from No. 5 to No. 1?” He also pointed out that Billboard promoted in a tweet signed physical copies of the “Stuck With U” single.
“I’ll be real disappointed ’cause this is for every rapper, artist in the world. Every genre. If you manipulate the charts right and you create bundles…’Gooba’ streamed over 200 millions streams–more than ‘Stuck With U’, Doja Cat, more than every artist that released a song this week double the times. It’s a landslide,” he said, before adding that Sony and Universal Music requested audits.
He continued, “Because literally, you’re manipulating the charts now. So, Billboard, the world is watching … If y’all do this to every artist in the world, how can an artist that works hard get No. 1? How?”

Prior to this, 6ix9ine warned Billboard in a now-deleted post. “We love you (Billboard) and always supported the charting,” he said. “On every platform we are dominating by a LANDSLIDE. The numbers are there and to be looked at. WITH NO RADIO WE ARE DOMINATING THE STREAMS. I will hate to believe that people pay for their spins on the radio and making manipulating bundles to manipulate the chart. Again it’s still early Im just making it clear that the world is watching.”

    May 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Lady GaGa and Ariana Grande’s devotees will not have to wait much longer for their much-anticipated duet. On Friday, May 15, the “Born This Way” hitmaker and the “God Is a Woman” singer have taken to their individual social media accounts to reveal the release date of their joint single, “Rain On Me”.
“#RAINONME WITH @ARIANAGRANDE FRIDAY 5/22, MIDNIGHT ET WORLDWIDE,” announced GaGa in an Instagram post, while Grande simply wrote in hers, “rain on me may 22 @ladygaga.” Both artists used their single’s cover art, which present extraterrestrial Gaga laying inside cave while Grande standing at the entrance, for their posts. The difference was GaGa’s post is in color, while Grande’s in black-and-white.

This release date announcement did not only excite fans of both artists, but also delight fellow celebrities. Former Fifth Harmony member Normani left three separate comments on Grande’s post. “I can’t take it [multiple crying face emojis]” and “I’m so excited” were two of her replies. Beyonce Knowles proteges, Chloe x Halle, also shared similar reaction.

“Rain On Me” is one of the track included in GaGa’s long-awaited sixth studio album, “Chromatica”. The record itself was initially set to be dropped on April 10, but got postponed to May 29 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Aside from Grande duet, it will also feature a collaboration with BLACKPINK and another one with Elton John.
Back in March, GaGa explained about the delay as saying, “This is such a hectic and scary time for all of us, and while I believe art is one of the strongest things we have to provide joy and healing to each other during times like this, it just doesn’t feel right for me to release this album with all that going on during this global pandemic.”

Miley Cyrus Treats 2020 Graduates to Rousing Rendition of 'The Climb' During Virtual Ceremony

    WENN

The ‘Wrecking Ball’ hitmaker helps high school and college seniors celebrate their graduations remotely, while Oprah Winfrey shares her wisdom through a special message.
    May 16, 2020
AceShowbiz – Miley Cyrus has helped the class of 2020 celebrate their graduations amid the coronavirus pandemic with a musical performance. Taking part in Facebook and Instagram’s #Graduation2020 virtual broadcast, the former “Hannah Montana” star delivered a rousing rendition of her 2009 hit song, “The Climb”, from her home.
Before her performance, the 27-year-old expressed her support for the 2020 graduates in a quick address. “Hello to all the graduates out there,” she greeted while standing behind a sparkling blue and gold podium. “I’m truly honored to celebrate each and every one of you high school and college seniors and all that you’ve accomplished.”
“As I was thinking about you, the class of 2020 and how you inspire me, I knew I wanted to share this song with you,” the ex-wife of actor Liam Hemsworth continued her short speech by introducing the ballad she was about to cover. “It feels full of a new meaning. Keep the faith, keep on moving, keep climbing, here’s ‘The Climb’.”

Miley was one of the stars participating in the multi-hour streaming event dubbed “#Graduation2020: Facebook and Instagram Celebrate the Class of 2020”. On the Friday, May 15 stream, Oprah Winfrey also popped up online to give an inspiring commencement speech to the graduates she described as “the pandemic class.”
“I know you may not feel like it, but you are indeed the chosen class for such a time as this – the class of 2020. You’re also a united class, the pandemic class that has the entire world striving to graduate with you,” the media mogul began her speech. “But even though there may not be pomp because of our circumstances, never has a graduating class been called to step into the future with more purpose, vision, passion, and energy and hope.”
The 66-year-old then challenged the graduates to use what they have learned to strive over COVID-19. “So can you use this disorder that COVID-19 has wrought? Can you treat it as an uninvited guest that’s come into our midst to reorder our way of being? Can you, the class of 2020, show us not how to put the pieces back together again, but how to create a new and more evolved normal, a world more just, kind, beautiful, tender, luminous, creative, whole?” she asked.

“We need you to do this, because the pandemic has illuminated the vast systemic inequities that have defined life for too many for too long,” she added. “You have the power to stand for, to fight for, and vote for healthier conditions that will create a healthier society. This moment is your invitation to use your education to begin to heal our afflictions by applying the best of what you’ve learned in your head, and felt in your heart.”
