Ant and Dec surprise young fundraiser who has raised over £1.5m

The Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards is back Sunday November 1 to spread some joy across the nation during these uncertain times.

And one segment that’s definitely going to bring a smile to viewers’ faces is when I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly surprise young Tony Hudgell.

A clip from Sunday night’s programme shows Tony in popular toy shop Hamleys, flanked by his family.

Two lifesize Nutcracker dolls then address a slightly surprised Tony as he shopped for Christmas goodies.

The two Nutcrackers said “hello” to a beaming Tony and his family, before asking Tony what his name is.

Tony answered back, revealing his moniker, before saying “hello” in return.

Tony Hudgell was completely blown away by the surprise

The two Nutcrackers then asked Tony if he’d like to know their names, to which Tony nodded.

They then pulled the heads of their costumes and answered: “It’s Ant and Dec!”

A gobsmacked Tony exclaimed: “That’s surprised me,” sending Ant and Dec and his family into fits of laughter.

Dec responded: “Good, it was supposed to be a surprise.”

He continued: “Listen, Tony, you already know we think you’re an absolute hero for all of the money you raised this summer.”

Ant added: “We love you, Tony. We really do.”

Dec said: “And because you’re here, we’ve got you a very special gift to take away with you.”

“Would you like to know what it is?”, Ant asked.

“Well, if you can look around over here in this area, you might be able to spot it, can you see anything?”

Tony then rummaged around a stand filled with cuddly toys to find a Pride of Britain Award.

Ant and Dec jumped out on Tony Hudgell

Dec then announced: “You are the GMB Young Fundraiser of the Year.”

Ant shared that Tony has raised “over one and a half million pounds” for Evelina Children’s Hospital in London, which has looked over Tony since he was five weeks old.

Tony said he was “very happy” to have won the award and joked that he was going to “hide it from [his] sister”.

The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with TSB, will be broadcast this Sunday, ITV, 9pm.
