Eamonn Holmes thanks This Morning fans 'for the memories' in emotional goodbye

Eamonn Holmes has said his goodbyes to This Morning, thanking the show for the “memories” in a heartfelt post.

Alongside his wife Ruth Langsford, Friday saw the duo present their final installment of This Morning, following their replacement on the show.

The presenter, 61, took to Instagram to share a photo of himself and Ruth accepting an award, with smiles lighting up their faces.

In his caption, he thanked fans for the “memories,” preparing to pass the torch over to new presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

Bidding farewell, he wrote: “We bow out of 15 years of our Friday slot on This Morning today.

“Thanks for the memories hope we made some for you too. Until February May it be a Happy Christmas to you all.”

The comment section below the photo was filled with messages from Eamonn and Ruth’s celebrity friends, letting them know their absence would be felt.

Dr Alex George, of Love Island fame, wrote: “You will be missed. An amazing team xx”

Meanwhile, Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison added: “You will be sorely missed! #legends.”

“You will so be missed love you both,” added TOWIE star Jess Wright.

However, one of the most standout responses was from Dermot, who admitted he was “humbled” to take over from the veteran hosts.

He said: “Masterclass. Humbled to be in your wake.”

Eamonn also shared a post to Twitter during the episode, assuring fans they would return to the studios in the springtime.

The showbiz sweethearts, who have been married for 10 years and share one son named Jack, first fronted the show in 2006.

ITV confirmed their replacement in a statement released on November 30, welcoming Alison and Dermot to the studios in their place.

Managing Director of ITV Daytime, Emma Gormley said: “We are delighted that Alison and Dermot will be joining the main presenting family on This Morning.

“Alison has provided some of the most memorable moments on the show in recent times and teamed up with the brilliant Dermot we think they are a great pairing in addition to our fabulous presenting line up of Phillip and Holly and Eamonn & Ruth.”

This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
