Stacey Solomon grew emotional on Friday’s Loose Women, as she reflected on her boyfriend Joe Swash’s relationship with grief.
The actor, 38, lost his dad Ricky when he was just 11 years old, after the London cab driver suffered from an undiagnosed heart condition known as Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome.
Speaking with panellists Jane Moore, Nadia Sawalha and Kaye Adams on Friday’s show, the conversation turned to the gift Kanye West had bought his wife Kim Kardashian for her 40th birthday – a hologram of her late father.
Admitting everyone processes grief differently, Stacey, 31, revealed she commissioned a portrait of Joe’s late dad for his birthday last year.
Showing the late Ricky and his grandson Rex, who was born last year, the picture upset Joe, as she recalled: “Joe can’t look at it at all.

“He cannot look at it, he found it really difficult.”
With tears welling up in her eyes, Stacey admitted she felt “ignorant” to have given him the drawing, before adding: “The way he deals with grief is to lock the door on it.”
The former X Factor star, who welcomed a baby with Joe last year, admitted she had a “disagreement” with Joe in the past, when he struggled to put photos of his late father around the house.
Highlighting Joe’s experience of grief, she explained: “When Rex was born he really struggled not being able to tell his dad or share it with his dad.”
Speaking about the loss of her mother, Loose Women star Kaye admitted she processed grief in the same way, preferring to put it to the back of her mind.
Nodding, Stacey agreed: “I think he’s a lot like you Kaye, I actually think he’d rather not think about it every day because it’s hurtful.”
Joe previously opened up about his father’s tragic death during an episode of Celebrity Gogglebox earlier this year, as they watched an episode of 999: What’s Your Emergency?
The episode showed a young son calling for medical help after his father collapsed from a heart attack, and reminded Joe of a traumatic incident in his own childhood.

Joe recalled his father Ricky’s tragic death, as he rang an ambulance to come in the hopes of saving him.
He said: “I was only 11 when my dad passed away from a heart attack.
“I had to get the ambulance and all that business.”
Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
